I have responded on 200 with a question about his person.  The question is "am I the only one here that finds W***X just plain offensive?"

Starting to think of this person as a greifer.  Just trying to upset people or see what can be got away with............

Last time I saw this person's attack on someone else I responded that way.

Noticed something as well.  Why is it SO MANY are seemingly concerned about making others angery.

Someone made a comment about chute shooting.  IMHO there is very little that is more dweeby. or pathetic, then chute shooting.  Heard all kinda arguments trying to support it.  None work for me.  Anyways the comment was they do it just to P*ss the person off.  I commented such and got the "get a life it's just a game" reply.

OH really?  And you know what kinda day the other person is having?  Perhaps they're having a terrible day.......  perhaps they just had a terrible thing happen to them and are here trying to NOT think about it for just a bit?

aahhh but that don't really matter does it?  They come into AHII and well tuff right?  Hmmm it's sooooo much more important that you get your kick pushing their buttons?

ahhhh well they should be in the AHII in the first place if they're going through such and such?  Oh Really?  Who are you to decide that for them?

I guess what we are all talking about here is attitude.  The attitude one has towards others within this sim community.

LOL your the one who said you would punch someone if they cursed in front of your kid now there an example:furious

The fact that my parents raised me to avoid giving into my primale urges over some word used by some twit is a testiment to them.

One who has self control does not seek to control those around him he simply trys to understand them.

As human nature being what it is verybody males in particular think they are more than they really are and when the realism of finding out you are not

produces silly actions int he game as much as it does here on ther BBs.

People will say things they would never say in public the anonimity of the keyboard breeds unwarranted machismo this thread is living proof of that.

I will turn 50 in two days and If I have learned anything so far that is just because I may live a certain way does not mean the whole world must.

We are all different and have different values and opnions on things just look at issues like the death penalty or abortion and ofcoures polotics:confused:

So what might be offensive to you and would make you angry to me might just make me sad for the person who has lost control of his own life to the point where he must either swear to get a point across or ball up and punch someone.

In short I mind my own beez wax I could care less what the dude down the street does or how he talks if I am offended by it I simply walk away problem solved.

As far as an online GAME community oh please church is a community this is a GAME it is for entertainment and when someone is not having fun and cussing people out perhapes its time to step away from AH for awhile cause if your soo ticked off you swearing at everyone you aint having fun are ya?

I struck a nerve. :)

I was speaking in terms of real life. Somethign this game, is not. I guess you failed to see the connections or lack thereof, I was making.

Bottom line, there is no call for some tard abusing range vox via cursing or otherwise offencive remarks. You can go and make excuses for these idiots all you want farwinkle, both you and the abusers will always be in the wrong.

Botton line, we need to be able to squelch range vox.

Bottom line, HT did away with Ch1 for all of the reasons this thread exsists.

Bottom line, Range vox is no different than Ch1.

The ability to turn range vox on or off would give me a choice to hear 20 spawn camping dweebs screaming about a single panzer that is spawning, or 6GUNS screaming holly hell to someone about not giving him a Check 6, or 100 BoPs screaming "KILL THE TOWN"... Or I can turn it off and not hear this crap that means nothing to me.

My mom useda say 'sticks an stones may break your bones, but words will never hurt ya' ..

..then she went to divorce court.

The 'sticks an stones' thing is something a parent says to comfort a child ..same as 'it's gonna be all right' ..both blatantly untrue.

Words, either verbal or written, can gut you like a fish an leave you gasping for air.

Unlike a broken bone, they can return to haunt you over and over if you let them. They can affect you physically, and even trigger fight-or-flight up close and personal.

In a 'game' ..if you 'go off' on someone .. the emotion is real. It comes across in text or voice just fine. In a 'game' ..you project your personality.
It comes across even if you are 'role playing' ..even though it is 'a game'
..you will be known by what you do.

Act a jerk, and 'in a game' you will be known as one and treated as one.

It *is* just that simple.

I never could understand the idea behind typing swear words ..they are not spontaneous, you have to think about what you type ..your fingers dont just 'go off' ..

Voice is different by orders of magnitude .. and yet, those who consistently express themselves with profanity project the same things.. not enough vocabulary, uneducated, irresponsible, unable to control their mouth much less anything else around them, or they spout just for effect, to gain attention because they don't know any other way to do so.

Either way .. I regard them as buffoons. Laughable in most cases. Fun to watch in a crisis.
My daughter out grew temper tantrums when she was 6, because I would laugh at her.

Same as I laugh at greifers.. and ask them 'do you *like* being here?'
Usually with text logging on, and a GM nearby.

chutes can't be shot (wish they could), you have to aim for the lil meatbombs dangling under them and if meatbombs weren't meant to be shot, they'd not explode when you do so.

Hey Guys,

I agree with you with regards the bad language, but as a Brit I just have to use it now and then as it would almost be like renouncing my heritage!

I apologise in advance for any of you that I offend and hope to get squelched and whatevered more often as it's what I deserve!

Oh by the way one thing is that I only swear via text and not voice so most of it get filtered - thank god!

But being a brit there are loads of words we commeonly use that are not included :)!

Merry Xmas and have a great 2006!

Tallyho

P.S. Watch out you reds I mean business this year (please don't shoot me)lol!

The funniest part in that cursing joke I made earlier is that I never even typed any cursing words. I used only **** symbols. Then I got attacked by a poster for having bad form - when the bad form was only in the posters head. He filled in the blanks with curse words, not me. :D

While I think cursing is bad manners, I think many of you folks blow the thing out of proportions. They're only words you know.

Curses consist of letters. If you want to get rid of every trace of curses you need to stop using any letters that can be used for cursing. Happy new year.

"They're only words you know."

Interesting.................

What are words?  Are they used to communicate?  Are they used to convey ideas?  Do they have a meaning?  Or are they just sounds being made by people?

When mispronounced do they still have the same meaning?

When pronounced at different speeds with different inflections on different sylables does the meaning change?

HMMMMMMMMMM................ only words ...................hmmmmmmmmm mmmm.

Funny thing is the legal system will do really bad things to some people because  of those silly little words, those "They're only words you know." things.

People have to pay huge amounts of money to other people sometimes because  of those silly "They're only words you know." things they say!

Been wondering??????? If you take a picture of a statement in the buffer, like someone calling someone a pedaphile, could you sue the person the statment is attributed to come from?  Would that come under Slander? Or Libel?

Thinkin someday someone is going to GO FOR IT.  Everyone keeps thinking they can't get in trouble because they are on the net.  I think SOON that may change and I'm thinkin then it will go BIGTIME!  The legal eagle's will be comin around like sharks smelling blood in the water.  Some kinda tracking mechanizem?  Maybe get a legal order to sieze computers, track online usage, show a consistant abuse pateran, and BANG big bucks.

The music companies just got huge amounts out of people on the net.

Many THOUGHT they could get away with "They're only words you know." while using HAM radios.  :rofl

Usually some kid using the parents rig. :rofl   Laughing and saying those "They're only words you know." things.  And then the FCC would show up at the door, take ALL the equipment, and leave a note for a BIG fine.  Kid usually stopped laughin right then. :aok

They're only words.. The trouble comes only when someone pulls a bead up their nose about them. You can call someone a pedophile all you like. You can shout it to the world - as long as that person doesn't care. If he cares you face a lawsuit obviously. Still they're only words especially if they have no base in reality.

Raising fuzz and filtering bad words is about as petty as it gets in my opinnion. We see a lot of prime time shows from US here in finland. And the censorship constantly raises smiles down here. Sometimes the programs contain more 1khz sine wave than recognizable speech.

Surely nothing bad will happen if we filter away the bad parts. Surely. Even if any over 5 year old understands which cuss words are bleeped out and which body parts contain nipples in US bowl shows.
:D

That being said I believe there are players in MA which would hinder the gaming experience of the rest unless they were filtered. In my opinnion a permanent option to squelch players would be far more beneficial than any automatic language filter which can and is constantly subvented.

You guys constantly rave about freedom. Why don't you want freedom to choose what you receive online?

You can "recieve" anything ya like. The makers of this game choose not to let that be part of it.

Theres plenty or sites that dont mind what is said or shown.

Theres games out there that are like that as well.

This just doesnt happen to be it.
