Oh I agree 100%, can't argue with a $20,000,000.00 signing bonus now can you? (3rd overall pick from UT last year got $18M)

Yesterday Vince was talking about how much he'd enjoy playing for Houston since he's from there and all. But now the Texans are saying they'll pass on Vince and take Reggie (the second best RB from USC), so as things stand now it looks like VY will replace Steve McNair.

I do not think his style of QB'ing will work nearly as well in the NFL, there's too much speed and weight in the NFL defenses these days. He is large but not as big as Daunte Culpepper, who got thrashed by defenses. He's not as fast as Michael Vick who also is not living up to his NCAA days. I think he's more like a Donovan Mcnabb athletically, and we all know the kind of year he had.

I wish the best for Vince, I think he's a genuinely nice guy who has more class than those three QBs combined. I just have serious reservations of the scrambling QB style and it's ability in the NFL. If I were a GM I'd take the classic sit-in-the-pocket and make pinpoint passes like a Joe Montana or Payton Manning, ironically I think Matt Leinhart is a better QB for the NFL than Vince.

after that.. who cares? Do you think Vince does? Would you?

Maybe at first, but once my handicap got into the single digits, I'd forget all bout fball :)

Crazy Salaries/bonuses have corrupted pro sports ... that is why college is better .. at least there they are still trying ...

different era ...

what was the  size/speed of the d-line then .. what is it now?

The Vikings were my team when Fran was there, liked Joe Kapp too ... then again I lived in N.O. at the time and the Saints and Billy Kilmer blew chunks but Dempsey did set a new FG record :)

And what is the size difference between Fran and Vince.  I think the relative of proportions between D-Line and Quarterback between then and now have progressed about the same.

Fran (based on his size, not his talent) probably wouldn't get a division 2 scholarship today.

I'm a Texas fan and Vince won't QB in the NFL....he's a great athlete, but not a QB. A WR would be a better fit...good size, speed and quickness....would scare the crap outta some DB's for sure.

I know a guy that QB's in the NFL...he told me the biggest difference from college to the pro's is speed....everything is faster. You put him in an NFL game and he would not look near as good as he did against USC.

He also throws like I do....arm not near strong enough.

Just my opinion.

Michal Irvin type wide out. QB in the NFL? Maybe. In fact probably. But I really would like to see him try some wide out time someplace in a closed workout. I bet he can motor and catch great.

How would you like to be a speed demon Corner and have to tackle Young 1 on 1?  Ewwwww

It looks like the Titans are very interested in drafting Young.  He's close with Steve McNair and they're talking about bringing him in to work under McNair for a while.  I hope they're able to get him.

Tommy Chang was small & broke the NCAA Division I career passing record Dec. 2004 (yeah, in the WAC, but it still counts)
