What's your favorite MA map & ideas for new ones?

I would like to know what your favorite M.A. map is; & what sort of map you would like to see introduced. I am thinking we are in serious need of a new one; & have been considering trying the terrain editor again ( wouldn't work the last time I tried it ). I know I'm not the only one here who is tired of the same old terrains. I would like to create a map that's not too big to capture; but big enough for variety. Myself I like the "Fester" map & I liked the hull down gun pits on GV bases on some of the previous maps.
 I also have a feeling it's the GV guys who get sick of the terrain more than the fly-boys, so with that in mind offer up suggestions on terrain specific details you'd like to have for better GV'ing & flight specific characteristics such as height of mountains or bases that would make air combat more interesting. I have never attemted terrain editing in AH, but have on other games. It may be too much for me; I won't really know until I try, & I won't try until I know what to shoot for.
 I salute everyone who has created or tried to create maps for AH; I know it's a lot of work. I look forward too hearing ideas on this.

small maps to small, big maps to big, somewhere in the middle, just right!!!

Large maps but the fields have to be all close together.  No high alt bases so wont see the really high bandits that you do in festerma at that 10k base.  With the bases really close together fights should be instant.  Say maybe have 3 fields in each sector.  Have an area just for the gvs.  Lots of ports and fields on the coasts such as alternating.

But Im a furballer so this is how I would want a map.  The buffers and gv people probably would think of something totally different.

Map with 3 bases relatively close together =) spawn at 30k

A map that takes place inside a cave where the only daylight is at the bases themselves. To get from base to base you haveto navagate  in the dark though a series of maze like tunnels in the cave:D

I think that a map where most fields are about 3/4 of a sector apart would change gameplay for the better.

Snow. Imagine the purty skinds the skin makers could make for the tiger and other favorite planes in white.


Lots of start factories close to the fronts. Allows for targets for the bombers, and keeps us out of furballers hair.

We Need Maps With A Buff Alley

4- Would give attack fighters a reason to attack Buff hangers at fields closer to the CIty ( imagine buff pilots complaining about attack pilots dropping buff hangers lol)
5- If the number of players on is low puffy and auto ack in the "City" increases to stop milk running....

Just my opinion mind you


EDIT: Yeah I know its sorta off topic but I think its relevent to the Map idea

Funny I've come full circle on maps. When I first came to AH I was all in favor of 1 - 1 scale large maps. Of course we had nothing even approaching that then.  Now we have had several big maps, and while I enjoy them I do find its harder to find what I'm looking for.

I like to see a medium sized map, make it big size, but put lots of ocean in corners. Keep the fields very close in the center, farther apart in the middle, and quite far apart deep into the country.  Low fields for front line action, 2 - 4k fields in middle for bombers and a 6k field in the rear to defend strats.

Balanced GV spawns throughout.  Except for the front line no real dead zones.  You should be able to up a GV at any rear base, and jump to the next field over in any direction. This is perhaps the weakest point on most of our maps.

3 fleets per country, one for each flank to attack/defend with, and one in the rear.  Low mountains (6k tops) at the borders between countrys, and long fiord like bays to encourage CV attacks.

You can have Vfields as front line bases, but it should never be more than a sector to fly to get to them for defense, less would be better.

Distance should be 10 to 15 miles from airfield to vfield. So if you lose the next field over you can still defend/counterattack without flying 35 miles.

Should have 3 full sets of strat objects. One on each flank, one deep in the heartland. So its "Possible" with a static front line defended on both sides to
get a bomber to the nearest strat objects. Not easy perhaps, but doable esp if the enemy is busy elsewhere. Put the strats in a nice  valley in a loose cluster with a medium airfield (3-4k alt) nearby to defend.

Island bases offshore are always hotly contended. They give the enemy a beachhead closer to the action. But they should be a bit farther apart, and you only need a couple for each front.

Thats not a bad distance for fields Ghosth.  What I was thinking of was having the fields so close together that you could practially see them if you looked from the tower but would have to zoom in.  I think having the fields in visible distance would promote real good furballs and shouldnt find anyone that is about 10k in that furball.  You would up from a field and have instant action but thats me.

I wsh they could modify Pizza enough to mollify those who hated it, but keep the cool canyon fights, and the hi-alt bases
