question for HTC

Tilt for President!
I mean seriously...why use Mods where human error or favoritism could be present, when you could solve the problem with simple settings?
This would also put an end to people claiming (right or wrongfully) that the mods arent being fair.
Permasquelch and a Custom "Personal" word Filter of our own both get my vote.

About the behavior on Range vox:

Although my son loves to see and hear what's going on (especially during base captures), I still have to keep the headphones on because of the twits that throw a very metaphorically colorful tantrum when things don't go their way.  Just sucks I guess for a kid that wants to learn the game.

pull up the roster, right click their name, and select REPORT VOX.

I PROMISE you that will help.

Well. The game is about people playing with (and against) other people.  Due to the shear numbers online there's bound to be a sizable cadre of anti-social, retarded types in the mix.
Too often thier whiney, idiotic, sniveling, diahreal rants push the radio text of normal, decent, adjusted and socialable players rapidly off the radio buffer.
And it's usually the same morons who repeatedly need to be squelched and ignored.  So to to add insult to injury not only do normal people have to endure this never ending jeuvinile crap they are forced to perform the chore of squelching others every time they log on.
And that's just the country channel. At least 200 has to be selected deliberately. Range vox is the worst.
The problem and the pLaYsKoOl atmosphere cheapens the game environment and many players often say to themselves "fediddle this baloney" and log off - some just unsub from the game altogether.

 So honestly?

Why can't some people just control themselves?

Well said!

A big part of 'just ignoring' the problems is the squelch.  A permasquelch that mutes upon logging in helps avoid confrontations. :)

or else make some kinda macro and develop your own list

I was never "for" the permasquelch option, for the same reason that I was against the dropping of Ch2 and the use of Ch200.  It simply sidesteps the problem and doesnt address it directly.  If you let people get away with being abusive and give the excuse "well you can squelch them, you can not tune to 200, etc............." you are as good as condoning the behavior.  Putting a text filter in is great.  Human mods still need to be there though to answer the problem of abuse of vox.  Basically you have to set limits and you have to stand by them.  Allowing abuse of those rules leads eventually to total disregard and then a huge blowup when you finally have to put a foot down.  If simple rules were enforced properly, no one would ever feel like they had lost anything and there wouldnt be any complaints.

I don't "condone" the behavior, HT does by "allowing abuse of those rules".

They will NEVER be able to "enforce" the simple rules properly.

Those of us who are tired of the BS and having to type .squelch moron 10 times everytime we log in are simply looking for an easier option.

Would be great if everytime I logged in the chat read:

.join requests will be shown in chat bar
.permasqulech list has been loaded

That'd be pure nirvana. No not you Nirvana. ;)

I understand what you want.  I'd even welcome it myself.  The problem is its the easy way out, and its not the right way.  If you allow it to go on without drawing a line it will continue to escalate.  Just because you can put blinders on and not see it doesnt make it go away.  And yes, it can be enforced.  I've seen it done quite effectively, and it didnt do a thing to ruin anyone's good time.  Because they knew the rules, and they knew they would be enforced.

I have a perma-squelch and I recently updated it... both my keyboard and my sticks allow macros to be set up in this way.

I think HTC recognizes the problem, which is why they've increased the number of moderators. I agree 100% that squelching leaves the stink on the channel, and many will not protect themselves by squelching. Doing things right means changing the abusers behavior -- but

"Abuse" is real, but not easy to quantify with 1's and 0's. So, the human element is crucial. Solving the abuse issue will take a large number of moderators in order to have adequate coverage, and fair application of the rules will require that the moderators be trained.

That takes time.

HTC has recognized the problem, assessed it, and come up with a plan. The mere fact that the moderator force has been increased means that things were being addressed even before the issue slopped all over the BBS. Remember that while we addicts get annoyed by the nastiness, HTC may lose potential long term subscribers because of a dysfunctional few. The stakes are higher for them than for us.

Lets see what happens, and chill out for now.

I had hoped HT would rise to the occasion eventually, well, maybe someday. I guess I'll have to try and figure something else out.

Sad that so few can spoil the fun for so many. That's life though, no reason this "game" should be any different.

All due respect, folks, but I would sure like to hear someone from HTC give an answer.

I believe this would be a desirable feature.

I've played other games where you could have a permanent squelch list.  It worked well.  AH2 already remembers your favorite rides, the skins you choose for them and the load out you last used.  I dont see a reason it couldnt remember this as well.
