Looks like a lotta fun. I never tried that, but I do have over 18,000 hours from DC10's down to Great Lakes, Champs, floatplanes, gliders, helicopters, and a year as a door gunner/crew chief in sunny SE Asia.

Uncle was a crew chief on a UH-1. Always talks about the fun he had then. (especially since I got into aviation)

He had reason to be happy. Dad worked in the pentagon as a civilian aide to the Joint Chiefs of Staff and when he was drafted went right back to his job. He knew enough of the right people to keep my uncle out and even get some guys their 3rd and 4th tours when they were turned down for more duty. He wound up stationed in Germany and has well over 300hrs in helicopters as instruction given by his pilots who needed to log so much to stay current if I understood correctly.

Now on the other hand he said if I ever get the chance I need to experience firing an M-60 from the door of a Huey. Still working on that one

I am pretty sure it is a LOT more fun when no one is shooting at you.

The M-60 was a great weapon as long as it doesn't overheat.

It has been more years than I want to admit to, and I no longer have my ticket. But I was able to spend many happy hours in a P-38L owned by Col James Fink. Sorry guys, but the guns were disabled!

Commercial helicopter pilot, couple thousand hours.

Flown in everything from gliders to light fixed wing to helicopters to fighters. I'm ex airforce. CF-18 was probably the top of the food chain for me flying wise. ( I never flew them as PIC, but have 20 hrs or so in the back seat of our duals, and that 20hrs was all "stick time").

Currently fly Robinson R-44's (although not much anymore), Bell 206's and Astars. Spend most of my time in Astars, great machine.

We have a real passion in this Aces High. Great community, and lots of great friends (even if you never meet them).

OH! And GATO! You have me all jealous! Damn! Good on ya!

Thanks RTR. It was a long time ago, but the memory will be with me forever. I really miss my time in the air. BTW, I'm also retired A.F. I retired back in 1981.

Private Pilot SEL, Instrument. I'll be doing my Comm check ride in the next couple of weeks followed immediately by my CFI check ride, then my CFII. Then I'm on to Multi and MEI. I've got just over 250 hours.

I've flown a bit. 495 hours in eight different aircraft. C-150, C-152, C-172, C-182, Decathlon, Champ. I've owned a few: Culver Cadet, Gere Biplane, KR-2, Quickie.

Brooke as far as the damage the plane can take or give out, I have to rely on what I read and have been told by the older pilots. Saying that, it is off a good bit, but as far as the way it flies and handles in the game are pretty close. In fact, in that area AH is better than any other simi which has The P-38 in it. (at least the ones I've tried.)

The one I flew was not the one Col Fink flew in the war, it never made it home. But from the stories he told me, The plane could almost fly in pieces. I mean with boom damage, parts of wings missing, damaged rudder controls, you name it. It was one tough bird.

If anyone ever runs across a picture of the "Rat fink". It had orange nose art of a rat with large, bloodshot eyes. Please let me know. I have been looking in all my old slides for it, with no luck.

HeHe got my private helo in Hiller 12B then on to Commercial, CFII logging bout 3000 hours in FH 1100, Bell 206, Hughes 500D and Augusta 109. Most fun flying I ever did was 4 years for the NBC TV affiliate in Portland during Mt. St. Helens era including bout 1000 hours of volcano time.
