Last night was great! About as near perfect as I could hope for
Ping was something like 47-62
Framerates stable. Gameplay smooth as silk.

Please don't go into implimenting connection standards.  That idea might be feasible if I were the sole person in complete control of my connection, but as the ping plots show, there are other hops involved in carrying that connection through, any one of which can "hiccup" at any time.

I'm on dail-up.  In this corner of the desert, a better connection will not happen for at least a few years.  I'm happy to actually get below 200!

Thunder, you enjoy playing at 500+ ping? Trust me, this is a very generous minimum standard, I can't imagine that anyone would actually want to play with a worse connection than that? What's the point? Frustrating people for fun? Even on a modem from anywhere on the planet 500ms is do-able. And if you can't manage it for whatever reason, is that fair to impose on the rest of us? That's like driving 25mph on the freeway, it just pisses everyone off. Sacrifice for the greater good my man.

I did not say I play at 500 ping.  My statement saying that I am now below 200 on ping is not proof that I enjoy playing at 500.  I have never had a 500 ping rate.  I am saying that no one is in complete control of the connection from thier end, as stated earlier.

Thank You Sir.

To continue the car analogy. If your car breaks and you cannot maintain the speed limit, or even close, do you stay on the road and continue to piss everyone off or do you pull off and fix it?

I really can't imagine why anyone would protest a minimum connection standard. It would simply not be an enjoyable experience for anyone involved who can not meet a 500ms no P/L standard.

Several other games I play have Minimum Connection Standards and it GREATLY enhances gameplay.

So when there is a problem with a hop halfway down the ping plot, I should cease and desist my account for the greater glory of the calbe/dsl empire?  I keep my connect as clean as possible.  I do relog when there is a problem, and I log off for the night when that problem is elsewhere through the trace beyond my control. BUT I AM KEEPING MY ACCOUNT.

Thunder, you said "I have never had a 500 ping rate." So why is this a problem for you? I get the feeling you are playing devil's advocate. And I never suggested that your account (or anyone's) be cancelled, simply dis-connected until you can resolve your connection issues.

I really don't understand your arguement.

I presume you a referencing the 1% part. The 1% potential customer loss would only be the people who are simply incapable of ridding their computers of spyware and choosing a decent ISP. Anyone who cares enough to set their system up properly and find a decent ISP can meet my previously stated minimum. And to those who can't, all 3 or 4 ya, sorry. The AH world will be better for your sacrifice.

Its only SINCE the move to the NEW SERVER. :cry

Ping since server change 47 until tonight and I'm at 92 currently.  Was solid the last couple of days.  Looks like Atlantlevel 3 and Dallas level 3 are killing it.

Skuzzy, outbreak and I are in the same boat, before the move no problems after the move all kinds of stuff is happening mine freezes, disco's, etc etc.

Now from a layman's POV nothing has changed on our end but something has changed on your end.  The next thing we hear from HTC is that it cannot be caused by the move to the new server because ping times are better.  Our refain is "it wasn't happening prior to the move".  On it goes round and round, but I have to tell ya that if it remains like it is now I will be unable to continue because the game at the moment is, for me, unplayable.
