"women of cover"

lol - what did he say?

woo hoo, it's the birth of a new buzz-phrase. people will be using that in their daily speech tomorrow as if they'd been using it their whole lives!

"oh yeah, she's a woman of cover of course...why? what do you call them?"

i wonder if a committee was formed to create that term before the president introduced it in his speech?

i love watching the government wordsmiths at work
 :D

ps- great speech btw, i just thought that was a funny new buzz phrase, and i saw it born.  :)

you cant honestly thing that was a great speech?

i am a republican but i think bush is kind of a joke. why he ran for president is beyond me. i honestly have better public speakers in my engineering schools! it is truly painful for me to watch him.. how many times are we going to hear "smoke them out of their holes"

I dunno Zig, I liked the interaction he had with the reporters.

I'll say this, when he emphasizes a point, I sense he honestly feels what he is saying, whereas previous presidents and most politicians in general you get the feeling they are just trying to avoid A.)bad polling answers, B.) Jail, C.) Lawsuit, or D.) all of the above!

Just my opinion, but with each of these press conferences, he seems to be catching his stride a little more.

Reagan was definately the great communicator, but you just knew he had no idea of what he was really saying.  George Sr., just didn't give a warm and fuzzy public appearance....Clinton..hehe, maybe too warm and fuzzy..you just knew he was trying to say something that would reflect well in the overnight polls, whether he believed it or not.

fair enough i guess.

great speech as in - it was effective in coming across as real to me the listener.

i don't really want someone who's too good at the 'craft' of rhetoric. i turn off the speaker as a rainmaker as soon as they start 'feeling my pain' and defining what 'is' is....

your apparant position on leadership models reminds me of some of the hiring policies at a company i used to work for:

we'd just hire the slickest most charasmatic people who knew the latest industry buzzwords, had the most polished physique, luxury condo in the appropriate part of town, rode the little stupid scooter, had an office full of toys, wore trendy technicolor clothes and took everyone else who mattered to the best lunch spot. little wonder they couldn't change a lightbulb much less run a company.

i like having a real person there who sweats, cries and breathes heavy when he's stressed over a slick master of rhetoric who looks like a plastic model regardless of the situation.
<soundbite>
it's not a sign of weakness, it's a sign that he's a human!
</soundbite>

he gave specifics and seemed genuine, often giving his impressions and insights rather than the psychologist approved positive attitude roadkill pep talk he could have given- who cares about the technical side of it ....ingle use analogies, cadence, hand language blah blah blah - he just spoke his mind and i like that.

we are in a new era where we'd better cut the roadkill to a minimum, he's the right leader for that and i'm proud i voted for him despite how trendy it is to hate him and his father among the cool crowd.

i realize he is trying to paint bin ladin as a neanderthal with all the cave refernces and so on but that's probably the way he really feels about the guy so i can't be too critical of that spin. maybe you could give him a new metaphor zigrat.  :)

I didn't vote for him, I try to not snicker every time he says 'make no mistake'; I figure my old cat was at least as smart as he is on a good day.. the new cat's a rocket scientist by comparison.

But he's my president, we're at war and on the attack, the guy is truly pissed about this, he's giving it 100%; doing a surprisingly good job of relying on and working through what is a pretty sharp team of folks supporting and guiding him..

The fact he's an bellybutton is immaterial.

He's the Guy with the Job, and the Job's gotta be done. I'm with him.

he speaks from the heart, maybe not a clearly as some would like but for once in the last 9 years, we have a Pres that says what he means and means what he says.

I like him. He talks like a guy who is talking to the average Joe and not some room full of lawyers and ivory tower types. The presidency should be looked at vie the results... not the smoothness of the talker. We had a smooth talker...

Of course, I only see what he posts here and what he does in the MA.  I know virtually nothing about the man.  I think its important for people to realize that we don't really know squat about each other.... definately not enough to use words like "hate".

Hihihi, he is also reusing figures of speech etc first invinted by his fathers writer. Maybe it's the same dude, wouldn't surprise me.

Personally, I think Bush has dine a very fine job so far. He's clearly coached quite effectively, and he's also clearly taking and acting on the advice of the administration seniors.

That he doesn't seem like the brightest bulb of 'um all is a bit disconcerting, but I'm not sure he needs to be. He just needs to be a figure that can unite the American people, and keep 'um united.

I just hope this whole affair doesn't mean that he can sneak by all his silly laws under cover of it all.

Stay the course.

I thought he did better during the question/answer session than during his opening statement.

Okay, I missed the speech, so maybe I'm missing context... or maybe I'm just dumb...

what the hell does 'women of cover' mean?
