This was my first REAL car

Keep in mind it was an 88 and I didn't buy ita till 94.

My first ACTUAL car was this

79 Chevy Malibu Station Wagon

I'm pretty sure it had a V8 in it but not sure what size.  The thing was a beast and it took out mail boxes/trash cans like the best of them.  Yup I was one of those teenagers that I now hate.

Hehe Ros, you had me running out side with camera in hand after reading your post and remembering how much these stupid chevy blocks go for.

Checked the casting number and the engine code. Its a 302 DZ block out of a 69 Z28. Casting number is 3932386.

Graduated in '81.......1975 Cutlass Supreme, 350 Olds Engine with the 4 barrel carb....Took out the original radio and put in a sweet tri-axial speaker 8-track player.

Was lucky enough to take my Dad's '55 Chevy Bel-Air convertible to the prom.  I helped him restore it to original condition.  I'll never forget the speech he gave me before I left to pick-up my date.....If you wreck this car, you'd better hope you don't make it out of the crash....he was absolutely serious.

He gave my wife his '66 Mustang 289 V-8 convertible as a wedding present.  It still has the original pony seats.

Well, it may have APPEARED that he was serious...if he was, I doubt you'd respect him much today.....

That said, do you still have that 66 pony?!  SWEET!  Pics if you got them!

Hehe...Rip, I know he wasn't, but at the time, he got the message across.

Yep, still have the Pony.

When I took my wife back to meet my folks, I took her out to the barn and showed her the hay loft, and after that showed her my old man's Chevy and the Mustang.

So back up at the house during dinner, she commented on how much she liked the Mustang because she had one in high school  (not the classic kind, but the crappy late 70's kind).

So when we got engaged, my folks drove it to Boston and gave it to her as a wedding present.  When I saw that, I asked why she couldn't have said she liked the Bel-Air!

Hehe Lazs.....I hunt and fish too....

That Bel-Air was a sweet car.  We found it driving down the street and it was sitting in this guy's garage with the garage door open.

We stopped, and the guy's wife answered the door (he wasn't home).  We asked if it would be for sale, and the guy's wife said hell yeah it is, and so is the crap in the back yard....he had a vette, and some other classic back there.

Long-story short, we picked up the Bel-air for $5K, but it needed alot of work.  We took it down to the frame and rebuilt it from the ground up.  We got an extra set of bumpers chromed, plus found an extra engine and powerglide transmission.  We even put in the "wonder-bar" radio that came as an option back then.

I can remember painting all those damn Chevy emblems on the chrome piece that ran across the dash.  We put glass packs on it, and it just purred.
