You can use a twisty with pedals , you just have to map the rudder function to the pedals . Some sticks have locks  on the twist, but its not a nessessity .

HeavyH,

Selecting joystick axis assignments in the AH control setup does exactly that.  If you're fun like me you can mix and match (on a squaddie's CPU) pitch, roll and yaw to different things that way when your buddy takes off...he doesn't know what way is up.

The stick will always twist, you can simply take away any input from that axis.  In case it wasn't clear :)

i was using an x45 when i went to pedals so the seperation of twisty was already there....

i kept the rudder rocker on the x45 inactive and kept flying using it, just mentally told my feet, when my right hand moves, move my feet.

it took me about 2 months to get to the point i didn't have to "think" about moving my feet for rudder action.

Well after 3 weeks , im still losing fights and missing shots i shouldnt . I now have a ch fighterstick to go with the pedals , but that just made it worse LOL.    I'm  just  set in the ways of a twisty , but i cant quit now ive spent too much $. There's nothing like paying to be frustrated ERRR hehe

I must say that the CH stuff makes everything else ive used look like a toy, this stick was bulit for a giant lol , i can hardly reach the hat switch .  Super smooth, tons of buttons, i cant blame the hardware for my lack of skill anymore hehe            Well Maybe .  :D

I don't think I ever got used to my pedals until I started using them in vert scissors and crazy stall fighting. The rudder control was so nice that it felt like my 38 was a UFO. Just start always, always kicking rudder to assist your roll rate and your feet will start moving on their own as needed.

Using pedals flying the P-38 or anyother plane...it didn't take more than a few days to get used to them.

The best suggestion here was to fly without combat trim. But you do need lots of practice. I find that playing IL-2/FB/AEP/PF for a bit really helps me get my coordination going in the right direction before I step out into the online world. I haven't played lately with a twin engine plane so I can't offer up any advice.
