ditching on own base

At V-Bases, any concrete is OK, with the exception of the strip from the tower.  Lost more than a few Panzers and Tigers on that little bit of coding.

The entire airfield is one tile.  It should allow for a successful landing anywhere on it.  Or at least give a "You have landed" and dock the points if there are any if it is off the runway.  But it makes no sense that you can land on your field and get a "Ditch" but land out in the middle of no mans land away from any fighting and get a successful landing.  More than once I have had my engine shot out and done a deadstick landing and ended up just off of the runway and lost everything.  Great reward for getting my plane and myself back in one piece, but slam into the runway destroying my aircraft and you get a "Good Job, you landed successfully".  DOH ! ! ! Great minds at work. :rofl

If you are on YOUR field, and live, it should give you a landing, not a ditch.

One side point, why the heck isn't their one lousy re-arm pad at a V-Base?  After all, that is what they do at a V-Base.  Re-arm and maintain Vehicles. :huh

All, the line for a safe landing was drawn by HTC a long time ago.  It is where it is and they're not going to change it.  Land within the paramters given and you're fine. Don't and you have only your self to blame.

(lol Snapshot :)   )

Well I was thinking that my idea would limit the "I landed with all but one wing on the runway and got a ditch" stuff.

I am aware of the limits now and have zero problems with it.

if there is any way could you please change this so that if you land on you own base you get your kills.

You get your kills whether you land normally or ditch, but you don't get the public announcement in the text buffer for a ditch.

Also, Trikky gives good advice. If there's any chance of being vulched while landing, minimize your exposure and land wheels-up on the runway. This shortens the time required to stop substantially.

Just be under about 100mph when you kiss the runway, lest you will be wishing you had a ditch . . .

this is how I always land. Gear down to blow speed, pull it up and slide it in for landing, saves time, no worrying about rolling off either.

hub, since these last 2 patches, I have found it almost impossible to get a sucessful belly slide anywhere around skiding in at 150, before the patches no problem, now best I have done was around 125..............

YMMV

I found the "belly/Bubba slide" speed depends on the plane; sturdier plane = higher speeds. For example, a plywood plane is not going to take the stresses that a solid carrier plane can; I think HT attemted to imitate (sp?) this; someone correct me if I'm wrong.
