The NFL Draft
« on: April 28, 2006, 09:41:38 PM »
Ok, I admit it, I count the days from the end of the season til the draft. It has the atmosphere of a playoff game, I can't find enough mock drafts to read.

How do you think your team will do and what are your draft wishes for your team?

It's hard to predict what the Patriots will do, Belichick and Pioli always seem to throw a curve ball. I am hoping for either an impact linebacker or defensive back.

I think the QB's are overated and teams at the top of the draft could score some extra picks by trading down. Honestly, I think the Texans should grab D'Brickashaw Ferguson. Carr has been getting killed, this would put an anchor at tackle to build on.

I think, imo, that the QB's could fall out of the top five picks

My top five

1.) Texans- D'Brickashaw Ferguson - If your QB is your biggest investment, protect that investment. I know, they have said to have signed Mario Williams, and that is good, but I would take the tackle.

2.) Saints- Mario Williams - If he is in the Jason Taylor/ Julius Peppers mold as they say he is, you can't go wrong. If D'Brickashaw Ferguson is available, I would grab him. But these are the saints, and a Reggie Bush/Vince Young/ Matt Leinart pick would not surprise me.

3.) Titans - Michael Huff - Ok, no way they are taking him, but I feel they are not going to take a QB and the stories out of Titans camp are just a smoke screen(as alot believe) I think Billy Volek can be their QB and can find another QB in later rounds to groom, their are some good prospects available. And I don't see them drafting Jay Cutler in this spot. So I see them trading down if Mario Williams and D'Brickashaw Ferguson are gone. If they are stuck with the pick, I see them drafting the best defensive player. I know, Reggie Bush is available here, and that's a good point, and maybe they take him, as maybe they should. But if Reggie is here at this point they could probably score a kings ransom for the pick.

4.) Jets - Reggie Bush - In a perfect world, the draft gods are smiling down on them and D'Brickashaw Ferguson falls into their lap, but Reggie Bush would fill a spot they could have had filled by not letting Lamont Jordan go. The Jets have lots of options here, and, well, they have lots of needs. Jay Cutler, Michael Huff and Vernon Davis are great picks here also. Jay Cutler could be the pick over Bush. trading down a few spots and taking Cutler is not an option, imo, as I feel the Packers would scoop him up.

5.) Packers - Jay Cutler - Ok, they probably would take Leinart or Young, but Cutler is the better QB, imo, and fills a need. I don't think they want to have to wait out another Brett Farve off season decision.

OK, their you have it, probably the worst mock you ever saw :)

Texans already announced if you look at nfl.com that they have signed Mario Willaims to a 6 year deal.

Going skip over Saints and say that Titans will go after Leinhart or Cutler and Pakcers will go after the Leinhart or Cutler depending on which one hasnt been picked.

Think about it, Saints may try for A.J. Hawk.

Jets will try for Vince Young or Reggie Bush I see as they need a QB and Curtis Martin is on his way out.

Yeah, saw that, going by how I would draft. I guess they feel Carr can handle the beating

Just like everything else he gets his hands on, Andy Reid will yet again **** up the draft.

What he will pick will be such stupid decisions and so random and entirely not what the team needs, so you'd be better off letting a monkey **** on a list of names to guess who will be drafted.

#1 Wrong its going to be the guy from NC State. While I think that Ferguson would be the best pick for the long run We all know that management of NFL teams usually make the stupidest decisions on draft day. They are mindless and clueless as to what their needs are then and only get caught in the Tony Mandarich syndrome in my view.

#2 Look for NO to take Reggie Bush since the Texans are taking Williams

#3 Titans will take Leinart. I have a buddy who works for the Titans and if everything he says is true then Volek will be the starter this season and....Mcnair is gone; probably to Baltimore in a trade possibly today.

#4 Jets need a QB to back up Pennington. Look for them to go with either Cutler or Young; probably Young since he is the "sexy" pick of the draft and possibly another side of the Mandarich syndrome but only time will tell.

#5 Ferguson if no one else get him before now will go to the Packers. Odds are that the return of Favre to the Packers for his cya season means he may want to have a young stuf on the line to get him covered on the right side. Ferguson is athletic enough to make the transition to RT or anywhere else along the OL.

I think the Titans select V.Young.

I want my Bengals to take the best defensive player that's there, although their biggest need is at defensive end.

I believe the name comes from a character in "the thornbirds"

Woot, another Bengals fan!  I'm not alone after all.

:D

Jets passed on Leinart, I wonder what kind of rage Mike Greenberg is in now rofl.

:lol

Edit: btw, I ran into Carson Palmer on the driving range yesterday, he was swinging pain free and without a knee brace on.  Think he's doing better than anyone expected.

Well, the rumor was that Jeff Fisher wanted Leinart and the GM wanted Young, and the owner backed the GM. Some thought it was a smokescreen(me included) to hide who they really wanted. Sounds like when Parcells wanted a defensive lineman and the GM(grier) wanted terry glenn, the owner backed the GM and Parcells bolted town( "if they want me to cook dinner, they should let me shop for the groceries").

Brilliant move PHILADELPHIA.  (****ing retards).  Not only have you picked up a position at which you already have good players, but you grabbed someone with chronic knee and health problems and has had run ins with the law.

You Andy Reid, are the biggest **** up since Stalin.
