People saluting you after a cherry pick
« on: April 29, 2006, 05:09:04 PM »
That literally pisses me off. There's nothing like you fighting someone in a good fight and then some jerk comes along and cherry picks you then have the nerve to give you a salute like he dueled you on his own. I'm like what the hell did you do to earn a right of a salute? I could see if it was just you and me and you killed me fair and square then ok yes then the salute is understandable but when you are flying over 15k and see your fellow country men in a duel with another guy and you swoop down like an eagle and kill the poor sap and then give the not only you are making yourself look shame to the person you killed but also at the same time your countrymen is like you didnt do this on your own although he might thank you for saving him. Anyways just had to rant.

Just don't return the S, then they feel foolish for saluting and not getting a salute back.

Heck, what's wrong with cherry picking? I have no problem acknowledging a good cherry pick. Geez, the only way you can get cherry picked...is if you fly like a cherry. :)

some of us who dont fly spit 16s or La7s, and fly early p47s or p40s or crappy early 109s, have to cherry pick to MANAGE at least a kill per sortie.... I dont fly the uber planes for a reason-and that reason is to swoop in, in a pile of junk and shoot down a late model, sleek, flying machine

Bozon: MrCherry

MrCherry: Bozon

I usually just back and grumble on squad ch. about it if I'm particularly ticked.  Not worth getting upset over/causing a scene...  Just makes you look worse than the cherry picker IMO.  I'd rather forgetaboutit and just get back in the air...

(Though I will conceed, that is damn hard to do sometimes)

Revor give us the name of the said picker.  My guess is it was one of the l337 picking timid score types who wanted recognition of his mad skillz.

Revor I think you are talking about a fellow squad member of mine.  All he was doing by my understanding wis he saw a plane on your tail, came down and took him down for you.  I dont think he was trying to cherry pick or steal your kill.  I think it was more of a helping hand or helping a fellow country man than cherry picking.  I dont see anything wrong with that.

oh no you got it completely wrong man. I was talking about hawco the other day when I was low in a 190A5 and there were about 3 people on me and I manage to get away from the p51 and it took awhile for hawco to kill me and he was in a spit8 and he's going to give me a salute. I didnt say nothing. I usually dont say anything when they do that.

Are you postitive who saluted you?
« Reply #14 on: April 29, 2006, 08:33:53 PM »
One thing I wish they would add when they say "So-and-so shot you down" is shot you down with what, e.g. "So-and-so shot you down in a Spit XVI".  Reason is, with the damage code the way it is, the guy who picked you may not have been the one to actually get the kill.  The guy you were turning with who managed to ping you a few times during your extended fight may have been the one to score the kill.  He salutes you for having performed so well in your turn fight, but you ignore him because you are sure it was the cherry picker who got the kill.

Even better would be "So-and-so shot you down in a Spit XVI with help from Him-or-her in an LA-7".  Then you know for sure who to :aok  and who to :p .
