thing is, the initial joke was not only hugely amusing, but totaly kind and playfull, like any fairy lover would be, but it was also not an attack on anything to do with Doc's life or business.

If the client maybe did detect a hint of impatience, and you knew it, doc, then the joke may have hit a soft spot without intent.

now the thread has all the potential to make a few pages (least i speak too soon, and avert the path with this pointless analysis.)

one of the possitives is everyone was laughing at a good joke, and not one of us was laughing at you. Another one being that your original statement to the unkown yak will now stay bumped for a few days and maybe the pilot will see it. Better that than no body trolled it and we see the best attempt the thread can do of what we might call base jumping down the page.

another pro developement from these words is that superdud has gone to cry  from guilt in the magic glade under the dumper bins out the back of a burger bar. he has relapsed into bad fairy groupee, joined with some pixies who do nothing but drink fermented honey and smash the watermelon out of any small rodents they can find on the street. possibly fully he wont make it through a third night in the rain.

so far all good.

the one negative being that you may have been offended by a motive that didnt exist, or just by the continuing impossibility for humans to take anything seriously even for a minute unless they will profit, or be killed.

either way, laugh at it if you can, and then send me a PM about how how i'm an outspoken little bastage who should just shut up and mind my own business. which would be true.

Hey Dok,
If you were in the P51, it may have been me. I was running low on go juice so I had to turn back for home. No problems anyway.:aok

Oops, just re-read your post and you mentioned d-hog, so it definately wasn't me. sorry!

Well lets see how my week had gone so far.

Monday I could barely get work done because since ATT "merged" with SBC I've had more DSL outages than in the six months prior. Every twenty minutes the service would drop. The ATThole in tech supt had some accent I couldn't place, but this person (either a woman ,or a man with his nads locked in a pair of Craftsman Vice-Grips) must be a fan of the TV show "Monk" because every other sentence started with "Here's the thing."

I tried to explain that the problem was on their end because the SSH to my ded-server's IP stayed up 30 seconds after their DNS croaked and wouldn't access URL's. But still they directed me to the people who troubleshoot line problems. Brilliant.

In the mail I got a notice for jury duty. Great. Last time I was on jury duty it ended up an 8-week long murder trial back in Boston. If you have a normal 9-5 jury duty is an inconvenience, when you're self-employed it's a serious financial threat.

Tuesday the "line problem" was somehow gone without any wires ever being touched so I could get work done in more than 20 minute segments. I decide to go for an after-dinner flight and up a D-Hog from one of the few places that isn't getting totally over-run.

Drag it up to 15K and the phone rings. They should never let marketing weasels get their hands on Photoshop and design web site layouts. Their fixation with showing banner ads and how it affects their "design" is something to behold. So I'm trying to explain current trends in web design to this guy.

While this is going on a Yak comes at me. I can only fly with one hand since I'm holding the phone with the other, and you need 2 to work the flaps and throttle, so I can't do much but avoid the HO and extend. And the Yak extends too. And extends. And extends. Out of vis range. Damn, a D-Hog would eat him up if that's how he's using a Yak.

So a minute or so later I check back and there he is at 5K off my 6, OK, I know this game. Phone call's still going on but I push over a little to buy some time. Yammer yammer yammer on the phone trying to reach a compromise which makes the client happy but which also won't result in a horrific mess of a site. The Yak keeps closing, I start diving more so hopefully the Yak sees I'm heading for a friendly base, and the Weasel keeps talking.

Finally we come to an aggreement but the change needs to go in now so he can see it before he goes offline for the night. I take a last look back and the Yak's now 1200 off but there's no choice. Alt-F4.

After the work is done I try to do the right thing and come in here and post an apology. And get crap for it.
