2.08 stick scaling + cfg's
« on: June 03, 2006, 09:44:00 AM »
Having become rather fond of AkAk's stick.cfg I tried importing it into the new 2.08 settings folder. It doesn't seem to affect the various axis sliders. Can anyone tell me how this can be done? As a side note, when I copy and pasted the stick.cfg into the 2.08 settings folder, it didn't prompt the message " Do you want to replace file x with file y?" So I'm not even sure there was a stick.cfg in SETTINGS to begin with. Are pre 2.08 stick cfg's compatable with 2.08?

I've noticed that the new GUI joystick set-up doesn't show the window that appeared before, next to the sliders, which displayed the curved line. Is that gone now or am I just missing it?

Thanks for the help :aok

I think it's gone Max.  The stick settings seem to be related to a .jsm file.  I  recommend you click advanced in the stick configuration and put the stick dampening and scaling in manualy from ack-ack's setup.

Individual stick buttons need to have an operation assigned to them.  Before, while it was an operation, it was mapped to a keyboard button too.  That way the flaps buttons also shifted gears in a GV.  That changed in 2.08.  I am still trying to figure out how to get a stick configuration for vehicles and bombers.  Fighters stick setup is good.

MAX it can be done, but it'll need a little work on your part. Its not simply going to work by replacing the file.

Firstly using notepad you can open both the .cfg and the .jsm files.

Open your old stick.cfg file you will see a series of numbers with commas in between (10 sets). Thats your stick scaling.

When you look in AH2.08 settings folder theres a (some number).jsm file. This file contains the stick data. Its back to front when compared with the old stick.cfg file style. Now manually type in the numbers that you see in the old file in reverse order. In the *.jsm file you will need to copy each axis scaling four times for the four stick modes. the other four series of numbers are your pitch roll yaw and throttle axes deadband and damping settings, which if you like you can again copy paste into the new file.

When finished save the *.jsm file and then open AH2 and check the results. A little trial and error will get u going.

Whoops, my bad.  You can't save the dampening and scaling through the advanced settings on stick configuration setup per V2.08 patch1.  I guess that didn't get caught in the 2 week beta.

Good luck!

All of my stick scaling imported over to 2.08, you just need to click the "advanced" check box to view them.

Just to follow up,

I was not selecting an axis for scaling.  Doh!  Anyway, I rescaled my sitck based on jpg screen shots I took in the past.  Another profile, such as that by ack-ack can be done in the same way.  YMMV.

p.s. Yes, my profile imported correctly, but I goofed and somehow hit the 'default configuration' button when trying to figure out modes.  I'm much better now.

Once I get back online in a couple of days and download the new update, I'll fiddle around some and convert my old stick scale to the new format and upload it to the 479th download library for anyone that wants to use it.
