sparks... do I understand you to say that you believe that the government can't protect you or your family and that it is up to you to do so yourself and that... you should be allowed any weapon that you feel will work to do so with the only restriction that if you commit a crime with it.... you should be appropriately punished?

If so... that is very good. I have been to england and talked to a lot of people there. Nice folk but.... they have a really strange view of guns and Americans so far as I am concerned.

also... in lucksters defense... talking to folks here that are from your country is interacting. for you and nashwan tho... He is correct also that the most important thing is the direction the laws are going... America and britan are going in oppossite directions on freedom to defend yourself.

The UN? I would disband it if I had the power and have most of the people in it arrested for being con men.

also... the article on shootings in the uk... they hit on the solution without admitting it. The solution is allways to make the penalty higher for the crime...not to ban the tools. If you banned guns in the uk but had no penalty... people would all have them anyway. They don't fear bans... they fear the penalties.

I'll never deny that we have our share of "reformists" in this country or my state, those who would protect us from ourselves while taking control from themselves. This isn't a handgun thread and it's an irrelavent point. Your handgun would be as useless to you as it would to me if you had the self protection laws we have in the Uk - that's the crux of it.

This thread is about the perception by some that a failed but much hyped PR stunt by a bankrupt government is in some way an indication of a submissive general populace. If it inflates your machismo to believe it then go ahead. Unfortunately it's not the truth.

I remind you that the largest bunch of fighting troops you have standing next to you in combat theatre is usually made up of that British populace.

So it's not just handguns but all guns those in the UK want the UN to control. That makes it so much better. I admit to ignorance of the knowledge that can only be gained first hand, can you estimate what percentage of the population of your country is behind this movement? The only things I have to go by is your current laws and what I read.

BTW I appreciate the fact that Brit troops are with us in the middle east. I will also give my moral support to those in your country looking to take back their manhood.

BTW... I just sent postcards (provided by the NRA) to four people in the UN that are, or can be involved in the big UN gun grab.

If you value your freedoms you should be letting the UN know that you do not want their meddling in our laws.

Adults who want to be armed can and do get away with it.

the knife amnisty is to protect our children from killing each other in schools. It was introduced (not for the first time) after a series of violent murders where the victims and attackers were all unde the age of 18.

Weird.

Public drunkeness has been against the law for a long time. Bars are considered to be public places but only recently did law enforcement decide to harrass patrons inside a bar. It didn't last, they are no longer doing it.

Watch out Beetle them forks are nearly as sharp as knifes and with 4 prongs they are clearly assault forks! Obviously, anything that can be used as a weapon must be banned. Afterall, the average person can not be expected to be responsible for themselves.

Giving away the ability to defend yourselves is what I was talking about. It would seem that Sparks would disagree with you on the reading on that careometer though.
