Reinstate the draft!

I registered for the selective service (draft) when I was eighteen, they don't have to do that anymore?

Because if you do still have to register for selective service when you turn eighteen, there still is a draft & they can reinstate it's use any time they want without legislation.

I'm with Dred, they need to remove the age limit on enlistment. If you are fit, you can join. I think you would have more problems with grown men not wanting little twenty year old females barking at them than geriatric problems gunslinger, you'd come in the barracks to find some 235 pound forty year old sitting on a higher ranking female & lecturing her about her manners & telling her about how he has a daughter older than her. :)

B.T.W. I don't think women should be drafted or serve in frontline positions or in the air over them either, nothing pisses me off worse than seeing American female P.O.W.'s

....and do it Heinleins way. No service; no vote. If you do serve and stay in 10 or more years; no taxes.

You miserable little cretins enjoy the fruits of the sacrafices of your forebears.. and without any vested interest in the process the latest generations have lead to a national decline in rights, the political process and citizen morality. More people voting in 'Idol' than national elections.. what a freakin sick mess this is turning into. The 'free lunch' should end.

Serve. Or be a second class citizen.

I think you're on to something with the first paragraph. Mandatory national service would be a good thing. In fact, we could/should involve the states as well. Work for either the federal or the state. I think the education grants are enough motivation. I disagree about voting though.

The tax break is a nice thought, but it'll never happen.

In times of national emergency, enough people will join the military voluntarily to protect the country.

A 'skate' attitute like that is why this country is going down the tubes... and yer eyeball to brain connection is defective... probably from lack of training or use. Re-read the first paragraph of my post. You don't wanna hump for the military, then you can serve with fema, border patrol, Red Cross, etc. It ain't slavery. Fair pay. Bennies. training. College tution, etc.

And real life experience in a real job.. serving the national or state interest. The experience won't ruin our kids.. learning a work ethic would do the exceeding majority of young people in this country a world of good.

Hang, I think you have the beginings of a good idea here.
We could have a new show,  American President Idol,...see they can go around the country and have open auditions, then the winners go to DC for the big contest.  Once a week they could have contest like Survior or Amazing Race and everybody can vote for thier favorites.  Vote the losers off until your left with one person, make em the president., 2nd place gets VP..:t

Check out your states reserve forces. Some states have Guard units that are not federal (national) guard, yet muster with them and serve in logistics and support roles. There's plenty of ways you can contribute without humping for the military.. get into Ham Radio; join an ARES or RACES emergency support system. Help handle communications in regional or national emergencys...

Lots of ways you can get your old wide fat bellybutton into the game without being a burden on the Military. Don't make excuses.. get involved.

haha!! Most kids I knew joined the army or guard to get out of working! Seriously, the only good paying jobs at the time were hard labor, totin' block, mixing cement, lumping bundles of shingles up a ladder, etc. I ate it up, made good money, but some went into the service.

One kid went to Germany in the army, went in as an e somethin, did four years and came out the same rank, they tell me you can sleep through four years and gain at least one rank. He kept getting busted goin somewhere doin drugs all the time. Paid for poontang alot, caught the drip and had to be treated. He is the only person I know to pass out at a van halen concert. He "had a good time and didn't have to work".

Oh yeah, that did him alot of good. He's still a little burnt, ran into him at the post office, had that jim from taxi look goin on

I'm a 'listener'.. got 3 rigs so far.. a HF all band base rig and two 2M/440 dual bander mobiles. Will take my exam after July when the new test series is released.

It's interesting, challenging (always good to learn something new) and I can be useful in an emergency. Should have done it years ago and I certainly coulda been more useful after 9/11 with an ARES or RACES team.

Who said I was old, wide, fat or making excuses? Could you point out where I indicated any of that? Who says I don't want to "hump" with the military? Who says I haven't already?

I'm 6'1" & 210 pounds, I'm still in fine shape even for 40 & could hump a 100 pound pack all day long, I do it now backpacking in the mountains & I'm a fine shot with a Bushmaster M-4 or an M-14.

Charles Rangel is a typical liberal racist. (not saying all liberals are racist) He claims everyone is racist but him.

I actually watched him on Hannity and Colmes state that only white people can be racist. AND that he wasn't racist because he was black and what he says is the truth about whites.

:huh
