OK so my pool has been giving me headaches lately. Here's the problem. I put clarifyer stuff in it to make the cloudy stuff clump up and fall to the bottom. Then I put my "aquacritter" in there to vacume the stuff up.

I noticed that while vacuming the pool gets VERY green and ends up looking worse than before and even more that after a while the return line will start putting green water in the pool. I'm assuming that this indicates my sand filter needs a backwash (new sand BTW and it was a PITA to replace)

This is a never ending cycle with this pool it seems and I'm having to do this 2 or 3 times a week and it's getting to be a major chore with my hours, WHAT CAN I DO?

Some Preliminary info:

1. THe PH is dead on at 7.5 and the FAC is usually right around 2
2. It is an above ground with a vinal liner

Another thing I've noticed is that I have these fiberglass sinkable stairs. Thy are hollow so it looks like they are an algee breeding ground behind and underneith them. Would it ease some of my headachs to get rid of these and replace with a conventional ladder as it seems that these stairs add alot of green crap to the pool? I've taken them out and cleaned them several times but again it doesn't seem like a feasable thing to do?

It's going to get hot today... weather channel is predicting 113F.

Guns, is this the same water that was in it when you moved in? If so, you need to be careful about chemical saturation. I forget the PPM (parts per million) level you need to be below, but a good test kit or EC (electrical conductivity) meter will tell you. If you break that level your chemicals will lose effectiveness and you will have to change the water.

BTW, when it comes time to refill, a large magnet placed directly on top of your water meter will stop your meter from turning. Just make sure you remove it after you're finished. The city seems to dislike this practice.

We have a solar heater on top of our garage that is connected to the filter and it gets pumped through the heater and into the pool. The solar heater itself is made of thousands of tiny black tubes. Right now its 93-degrees. Highest we had it was 98. Its to hot.Once you get in it feels like your swiming in air. Sorta strange.
