skyrock....

I know you are but what am I?

sure... taking off from a capped field is not very bright if "score" is a big deal to you...  Not even really talking about taking off from a capped field here tho.

There can be a good fight halfway between the fields and some little twit in a fast plane will work his way up to alt or even just joust his way to the field and then make a runway pass...  He may get a plane upping before the ack gets him.  maybe not.

Or..  He may come in at high alt and do the same.

You don't have to up to see it.   Just go from tower to tower and look at all the guys making pass after pass at the runway...  maybe a half a dozen guys spending their entire sortie buzing the runway at an allmost undamaged field...   just hoping that someone... anyone.. will try to up and... that their lack of skill will be less than the other five guys and they will get to make that all important kill... they will win the vultch lottery.

Sure... I have been in that situation myself... you go to a field and it had a friggin bar when you left... get there.... and there is no fight.  If someone ups... I am gonna kill em.    I think it is more than that tho.. it has become a "score" tactic and a way to avoid the steep learning curve.

A lot of it has to do with the fields being to far apart on most maps tho.

Well....err...call me kooky...what we Rooks do is simply outlandish...

We either hop into a manned gun or roll ostwinds out...and kill the attackers!

The whole vulch whine is hilarious.  If *your side* attacks and vulches a field, that's awesome....if *your field* is being attacked, its outrageous and a post HAS to be made on the forums to show your disgust

I dunno Le Paul. I think the post is an attempt to move all the fields to within a mile or so of each other. That way you can up and be in the fight as your wheels go in the well. It was actually tried in other games and ruined one that I can think off. There was a mass exodus to WB because many people disagreed with a games remapping fields so they were within a couple of miles of each other. The few that remained and played in that arena did so for a short time. Then it was gone.

Cause and effect....Personally I'd hate to see that happen here. It's a fun game with fights all over the place. Anyone who really has to fly far in this game is doing so because of wife ack...take out the trash, don't forget to walk the dog, or they need to head to the john, go outside for a smoke break, grab a beer or get a snack while they climb out.

When I logged in last night I think the average time to a fight was around 7 minutes and we were heavily out numbered. And, I didn't take off from a capped field either.

Since you weren't around in those days you wouldn't know they left the game to go to WB not it's demise. Had you actually bothered to read what I typed you might not have inserted your foot in your mouth.

Ok, try reading the phrase below once more....

"It was actually tried in other games and ruined one that I can think of. There was a mass exodus to WB because many people disagreed with a games remapping fields so they were within a couple of miles of each other. The few that remained and played in that arena did so for a short time. Then it was gone."

Did you get that?

There was a mass exodus TO WB...

Got that?

Now for others who read these posts....I'll continue....

I've been there and seen it happen. Others have also. The noisey minority whined over and over until they ruined a game. It was amazing to see people quietly walk away for a game they had played for years. They looked elsewhere and found WB. The owners of the previous game blew it but got lucky and were able to get some backing for another 18 months. Some folks weren't happy with the orignal flight model of WB and went back to the reincarnate game during that 18 month period. Some new blood and old vets began flying again until its final demise. The game died once again for other reasons and that time for good. As I said in my first post listed above, I'd hate to see it happen again.

And yes. I teach flying not remedial reading.

Please look past your prejudice and read the posts for a change. I mean, you started the post. I merely responded with the thoughts when we forget history we are doomed to repeat it. Since you weren't there you have no history to remember. I just posted some history.

Lastly, everything you have said in your post has already been said. It's only new to you. For those of us who've been there, when that stuff resurfaces we step up and call it like it is.

For those folks that made it here, as you put it...they are members of this gaming community. I don't see anywhere when I come into the game that it belongs to you and I'd bet they see the same thing. Somehow, I don't think HTC agrees with and to quote you "unfortunately... most of you made it to here", but I'm not him. Your comments bring little value to the thread you began.

when we forget history we are doomed to repeat it.

Well I think HT knows all the history and I doubt strongly that he will repeat it.

HT also is not easily swayed by "the noisey minority" ... at least from what I have seen and experienced since joining Aces High.

I read all these "noisey" threads and watch people froth at the mouth making their point and counter-points (and sometimes I join in) and over the past 4 years ... HT has only acted on a very few, and his choice(s) to act or not act have been right on ... AH is no where near demise from what I can see.

Most people are missing the point of the original post ... the pilots in question are the ones that have absolutly no intent to "fight" ... they simply jump into a fast-mover ... blow past anyone and everyone just so that they can make a low level pass on a runway to effect a kill ... extend ... reverse ... make a low level pass. Once caught ... they die instantly and repeat the process over and over. If that is what you want to do ... then go for it ... its just sad to see that the number of these types increases ... it doesn't add to the game ... it just detracts from it.

Last month I was flying over the water between two bases ... saw an La-7 on the deck ... dove and killed him instantly while he flew a straight line ... I climbed back up and flew towards the base again. Here come an La-7 on the deck (same guy) ... rinse and repeat 5 or 6 times. This guy had no intentions of trying to fight anyone nor did he try to fight me ... he just hoped that he could get to the base unnoticed and hoped that someone was upping so that he could get his one high speed pass kill.
