runway warriors...
« on: July 23, 2006, 08:59:18 AM »
The horde mentality and field capture thing along with late war fast planes being the only viable plane for the unskilled and skilled alike has led to a new type of AH player..

The runway warrior..

The runway warrior comes in to an enemy field that has some action at high alt... he makes sure that there are no high enemy planes in the area... if there are he runs back till they are gone.. If not... he dives down making one pass at the runway hoping to catch a plane just taking off or just landing.

He can be a loner but most lilely comes with the horde.

Some are so frenzied tho that they don't care if cons are high over the field.. they dive on it anyway and hope to catch one or maybe two planes on the runway before they die.

the ack can't get em cause they are in fast planes and they usualy wait till the ack is down anyway to dive in.

A tour of the hottest fields in AH is generaly 6 or more high red planes circling and diving and maybe one or two green ones trying to take off every few minutes.   Maybe a ground vehicle or two firing.

The runway warrior wouldn't know what to do if he met someone at anything like co alt (except to die).   They are no fun to defend against and not much more fun to kill.

After all these years and 17,000 posts I think you would've learned not to up from a capped field.

Who said he upped? You can see the tards from the tower, or you can come from opposing field with alt to kill them, wich isnt fun becaused they either dive straight to runway for one last vulch or straight home/ back to the pack. Either way there are no acm's involved. "Dont up at a capped field" is usually a vulcher's number one verbal defense at being called out on 200. I know "defense" is a naughty word in the MA lol.

Hell, if I'm running down some other con and he flies over the runway, and it presents me with a shot at a lander or roller without abandoning my pursuit I'll take it (rather do that than risk overflying and getting a bellyfull of lead). I just don't go out of my way for it.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

I can concur on this behavior. I'd say roughly half of my kills with 37mm are these poor chaps. I have noticed it's the same 50 or so people doing it over and over and over and over. The reason this behavior seems so prevalent isn't because alot of people doing it per se. It's because the 50 or so that do do it, seem to do so 20 hrs a day to the almost total exclusion of any other activity. They almost always die in the process and usually fly an La7 or similiarly fast, quick climbing plane so you can see them do it 3-7 times an hour...

The really sad part is, being a statistics nut, some of those that do this are, supposedly, if you believe rank, some of the top 100 fighter pilots in the game...So, one could conclude it's not your fighter rank that indicates any talent, but instead how you achieve it, which unfortuantely cannot be quantified statistically..

well this may be a troll but set the hook and reel me in!!!

i do exactly what laz describes but not for the reason he ascribes to it...

when we trying to disrupt an enemy base engaging the high fiters is delayed suicide...these GREAT warriors will turn/loop you once or twice while getting their buds to saddle up ...if they are pawned by my lala they dive for the field ack and try to get a low turn fight going so guys can up the base and come pick you off them...a low slow lala is deth about to occur...

nope instead do exactly what they dont want....make high speed low alt runs and nail their friends upping..then they have to give up their precious alt and enage you..they get mad because their point/perk generating "look im igreat cuz i kilt your lw plane with my early war bird" cant catch up to you....then your friends can come in without worrying about a high cap and pick them off....frowns all around in "vet" land..

here is another secret...i and many of these lala/spit16 wusses have played much longer then most of you "vets"....we have done the "fiter" thing ...the "respect me" thing and traded it in for the teamwork/friendship thing...thats what keeps us with more then a few hours a month flying time...

but here is another last point that makes me "better" then these pompous vets...."I WONT POST TELLING OTHER PEOPLE HOW THEIR WAY OF ENJOYING THE GAME SUCKS OR MAKES THEM LESS THEN ME"  do a search..i never have...it IS a game and people should have fun in any legitimate way the game allows without purposefully cheating.
