I'm really enjoying the tank maps, like Orel. Long distance tank combat is a blast. Still love this game after all the years and additions.

I'm a huge fan of the infantry.  Tanking just doesnt do it for me, but running around on Basovka is a blast. :)

I just got it and practiced up some. What's a good server to get my newb bellybutton owned on? And, and interest in organizing an AH server night somewhere?

I'm game for an AH server night.

I usually spend my time on the FKs #1 w/ Customs server, but they have no tank maps.

Bigfoot is one tough SOB. I shot him about 10 times with 7.62x54R rounds and he didn't flinch. Where's a damn Panzerfaust when you need one?

Ahaha, I never saw that.  I love the new map but I struggle to get 15fps.  My fps really took a hit with this last patch.

With this new patch I think the game has reached the sweetspot between gaming and realism.

Now if only they could implement a better TK system. Last night every server had half the players in negative with children sitting in spawn TK their own side..... and this week will be even worse with the free demo

Lets hope the admins log in.

Why don't we try and get a few AH guys to form a few squads over in RO? I've been playing RO for 2 weeks and have to say I've banged my head of the keyboard 3 times so far in frustration lol.
Be good to get a few guys from here to all team up and go and kick some butt !

I'd say getting a group of 3-4 guys on a server to work together is the best way to play RO.  It just intesifies the fun for me, especially when all four have a different weapon.  I'd love to hook up with some of you guys sometime.  It would have to be pre-planned though because my work schedule is iffy at best.

Nothing personal, I just hate people in general... :) My Xfire name is 'Makarov' and I'll do a better job answering chats.

If you haven't tried RO then definitely give it a try this week with the free demo. Tripwire has put some excellent infantry and armor training videos on their website.

If you like realistic, non-bunny hoppin', WWII games then give RO a go.

I've started playing online and have to say that this is a blast. Very immersive.

I can't say that I find this a problem Funked, or particularly inaccurate. I can hit a "head" sized target at 100 yards as easy when supported and even easier "off hand" compared to real life. The problem is contrast at greater distances between the gun sight and the target. However, I can still hit a stationary target at greater ranges with little real difficulty and while moving targets are difficult, I would imagine they are as well at that range in RL.

I could hit pop up targets at 300m with no problem in the military, but there was always a good amount of artificial contrast on the range between target and background, and even though the target popped up there was no lateral movement involved. I seem to be able to do about as well in RO, though the lack of contrast makes it a bit less easy and it can take slightly longer to make sure. However, given the urban or rural environments in the game a camouflaged soldier should perhaps blend in more with the background. So again, not sure if it's a realism issue as much as a play style issue. Works for me though -- obviously YMMV.

What does irritate me somewhat is the poor armor/penetration model with the tanks. With the eye candy the immersion is fantastic up until you pump an 88 into the rear deck (or even turret top or hull bottom armor with the hilly terrain) of a T-34 at 25 yards and only damage it. Supposedly there are “hot spots” on the tank that make kills easier, and I may have found a few, but they are limited and mostly it seems to be a “total damage points” model at work. Add a realistic model and it's a world beater.

Also, it would be helpful to have a "dot" sight cue for shooting from the hip. The game perspective doesn't give a good aim point for what would be both natural and accurate at ranges under 20 yards. I do OK with a SMG but not so well with anything else. Practice certainly helps but [it should be easier to shoot] from the hip at a target 10 - 15m away (fairly natural/mental/eye/hand coordination). Obviously, and longer ranges it should be hard, perhaps even harder than it is in the game :)
