[Whine on]

Those of you who smoke should read this....

I work at a local supermarket part time. Sometomes I have to sweep. 99% of the garbage are your cig butts....I swear there must be thousands a day laying around. ANd most of them are located NEXT to the garbage or this special cig butt holder that keeps the garbage from setting on fire. Once you clean them up the wind will blow and more of the little buggers will blow from out of no where. Your already killing yourselves...will it kill you anymore to walk an extra 2 feet and put them in the garbage?

The next person that looks me in the eye and flicks his cig butt on the ground in front of me while Im sweeping Im gona kick in the junk...even if they dont have junk Im gona kick em in the junk.

So stay away from Derby NY if you like your junk where it belongs and not in the back of your head.

You get a fine of £50 if you drop a ciggie butt in my local city centre. (Its not just butts, any litter and the clean police can ticket you). It has made a difference during the day, particularly in hot spots like outside the McDonalds that used to end up looking like a land fill by 2pm.

There are fines on littering here in NY. But our plice are currently more worried about wage freezes and a escaped convict that shot 3 troopers (1 died) (2 seperate occasions) for the past 2 months instead of littering.

I agree BlueJ, the sidewalk in front of my school is where those people choose to smoke, cigarette butts everywhere even though there are 2 trash cans on either side of their group.  For some reason the group by 7-11 gets ticketed every 2 weeks or so, about 10 people each time.  You've got you be mentally retarded to smoke at a gas station.

Its not enforced by police officers.  The local council has authority to levy the fines through its own employees.  I guess the fines more than cover their wages.  I think it was originally brought in to stop people dropping chewing gum but has been expanded to all forms of litter.

Its illegal to smoke on school grounds here. So kids stand across the street in people's yards and smoke.

Same with my school but they weill stand on a part that I would think is school property and smoke with the "security guards" carrying on a joyous conversation with them.  The school district bus depot is right next to us too, so they go over there.  It's just dumb and i'd like to see them all keel over, someone spike the tobacco with sarin.

Calling for the death of people who litter is just a bit Orwellian don't you think?

i think "orwellian" characterizes .gov behavior that validate the concerns of :noid.
kill em all is just severe.
putting cameras all over to catch them would be orwellian
if they were 280lbs, then they would be Orson Wellian

I always wondered why smokers think the world is their ashtray and garbage dump?
"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

I think it's a quick end to a long, pollution prone death.  And "we" won't let smokers inside now because it smells so much more better now without all the horrific second hand plague trying to rip out or lungs.

You sure it wasn't diesel?  If I recall gasoline vapors are more volatile, but whatever.  It takes one spark.
