Ooo and that list of WWI planes is seriously a short list. There was much innovation in this time.
WWI would be much simpler to model than Korea from a "support system" point of view. However, the flight modeling would be a challenge. A lot of WWI planes used quite unconventional control schemes...control surface warping, throttle control consisting of ignition timing rather than fuel mixuture, etc. It would be a challenge to get it right. And even then, "right" would be argued from here to Timbuktu. There's no shortage of WWI aircraft performance "buffs", which is a more subjective and debated discipline than the study of Jesus' years 2-30. A LOT happened in those short years for aviation, but seems nobody knew how to accurately record it. Yet everybody today is a bona-fide authority on the topic. You Red Baron II/3D guys identify with this statement.

That being said, if HTC was willing to take on WWI, and make something reasonable based on the available info and within the engine and gameplay capabilities of AH, I've no doubt that it would be the superb air combat experience. There are
hundreds of WWI-heads out there that have no real home anymore, yet they search. Folks say that < 200 mph is a downgrade....oh my lord you have no idea the challenges that fast turning, slow flying, weak-gunned, sans parachute, and fragile construction combat offers. SUPERB.
Everybody go watch Flyboys on Friday (uh, the US guys. Don't mean to be America-centric to our brothers overseas). Then say you don't totally dig the idea.
