I'm pretty sure the EULA covers MS's very large, very bloated arse on the matter.

I cannot imagine the nightmare OEM's are going to be creating with Vista.  Actually, I can imagine it and it aint' pretty.  Barely enough RAM to run the OS, to keep the costs down and tossing thier 30+ processes on top of an already bloated OS.  Damn, I really wish I could afford to retire.

i got a 10 year old compaq, i use it to play aces high II now :) works ok.
but i plan to buy a new mother board and processor, also 1-2 gigs of ram.

I ran 98SE up untill about mid 2003...

I had no reason to upgrade to XP and only did it after I encountered a reinstall situation... I just sorta said screw it..... (all my mates were doing it so i blame them)

The biggest problem with the OS and Applications provided by M$ is the fact that they have 2 features that you use and 200 that you dont.

Outlook, word and excel  are used in offices all around the world every day and I can garentee that %90 of the users would not know what a Field is in word or how to group emails by the sender in outlook....

Its like putting a 10year old on Rossies GP bike, yeah he can ride it but its a big F...King waste...

All the average user needs is a basic text email application (cmon how many pics have you sent at work that were really bussiness related) and a basic word processor that can do basic formatting (again how many times have you used word art for work purposses)

I know that there are a lotta people out there who want and can afford the biggest and best.... But bigger is not always best

Unforunatly Style will always win over substance....

I will not be "upgrading" to Blista untill I have no choice.....

Skuzzy... You have my sympathy mate... What more can I say

and it looks to me like that Coupon will only be available on certain "new" Pcs

Personally after looking through that Website
I dont see anything there I particularly want. Nor need.
In short.
I am not impressed

So long as you guys keep making AH so it runs on XP Pro.
I wont be moving to Vista anytime soon

Best buy. For a fee of course. Will strip away all those extras for ya when you buy a new PC there.
But I agree with ya.
Half that stuff shouldnt be there to begin with.

Other things that crack me up is when they claim a machine comes will all this $ worth of programs installed. and the buyer buys the machine only to find out that all those cool programs that came with it. Are only Trial editions and/or not the full versions

Heh I never bought a 'brand' PC in my life and hopefully never will. Unfortunately I have to deal with them constantly through my work.

2 things can happen

A. People adapt

B. They fail and linux OS's become very popular.

My guess is people will adapt and cough up the money for upgrades. Sucks though. I liked 98 the best, then i had to get xp and i found it ok, now i have to deal with vista.
