Please Fix the Corsair Cockpits!
« on: November 17, 2006, 12:14:05 AM »
Hey...

The new cockpit views for the D-hog are poo-poo bad.  Where did they come from?

I'm hoping someone says it was a mistake, and that the old bubble canopy will come back for it and the -1A hog.

Was it really this bad?  I feel I have better field of visions in a B-17's cockpit views than this new one...

Oh...and please let us zoom out so we can see our ammo load and such.  I'm flying with my nose against my sight and it hurts!

*edit* hey..if we have to fly with that huge armor plate behind us, eliminate pilot wounds from MG ammo from the rear...

Coming from 109s and 190s, the F4U views are lovely for me.

we need a shift f1 command which makes the cockpit disappear and the flight details are displayed on a HUD :furious :furious

No Ball, that would be just like you flying your IL2 as a fighter with F3 view!

Warspawn I know what you mean...Both ammo and airspeed indicator cannot be fully seen right now...

Was the corsairs read view that bad?  Was the head plate that big and obstructing?

suggestion...can use down arrow to move back farther from gauges.

Change your head postion......to shoot zoom in on site.

I did this and have the zoom toggled on my Combatstick.

Works well

Considering there shouldn't be any ammo counters in the first place, the small inconveniency of having to press two keys successively to turn the head a bit to look at the guages, shouldn't be that much of a problem.

Comming from someone who obviously hasn't flown the new and improved corsair -D and -1A.

Sigh...why post about this when you haven't tried it?

You can't move back far enough to view most of your gages.

Try it and come back and post man...

Use Page Up or Down to adjust Airspeed Indicator and/or ammo counter view to your liking. While I'd like to be able to move eyepoint back just a little, it doesn't mean that it was possible to sink your head into the armor plate in the aircraft. I'd be willing to bet HTC already considered this, as they usually do.

I think they look superb.

Guess it's all good.  Maybe we got an earlier version of the -1A or something.  I'll adapt and enjoy the ride!  Thanks for doing it!

Also, this version had a clear-view canopy that in itself improved the pilot’s fields of vision but, more importantly, had a domed top that allowed the seat to be raised by some 7 in (0.18 m) for a useful improvement in the pilot’s forward fields of vision. Also, a pneumatic rather than solid tire on a heightened tailwheel unit was introduced, that effectively lowered the nose, and a small spoiler was added on the leading edge of the starboard wing. The 862nd F4U-1A introduced another upgraded feature in the form of 1 × Pratt & Whitney R-2800-8W radial with a water-injection capability that boosted maximum power to 2,250 hp (1.678 kW).
Number built: 2,066

Saxman found that.  I guess I was hoping for the bubble canopy to remain for the D and be on the -1a version here....

from defualt view i can see speed and ammo, dont know why some cant,
maybe resolution has something to do with it?

and view from F4Us is fine, just move your head using arrow keys, i have no trouble spots.
