It really sounds like the switch is bad. It's not a short though, it's an "open" in the switch.

Well byebye is right on this matter. An electrical short circuit will result in an instant consumption of all electric current in the system limited only by the resistance of the wiring and the shorting point. This will lead either to a fire or a burned fuse, which one happens faster.

American cars are infamous for their electric wiring btw. You guys seem to have a whole different way of doing wiring in the cars.

Having said that, this kind of problems were common in W124 Mercedeses. The turn indicator roll switch used to burn itself out because no relay box was used in between - all of the current flows directly through the switch which will wear the switch out in the long run. Sometimes causing a short, melting the switch and/or just blowing the fuse.

Place various unregistered weapons in the trunk and a loaded one beside the drivers seat. purchase weed, crack and meth and straws, pipes..ect.

When yer lights go out speed up and lay on the horn until they come back on, swerving helps.

What you descibed is a bad dimmer switch... replace it and your fixed....

loose wire or connector somehwere. Good luck in your search and bring vaseline to the dealer, they dont supply it. You should take it to the dealer and write up a formal repair request form. Something like that will be investigated so long as they can be held accountable. I know you must still be under warranty?

ahhh, but do newer cars have dimmer switches anymore? I would have suggested that he check that cuz I had that problem before and it WAS the dimmer switch, but I think now they are just regular on the dash and brights on the blinker/windshield wiper//washer/rear window defogger/global positioning/power seat switch??

Newer cars have multiswitches. You know it as the turn signal, but it also houses the wipers and dimmer switch.

If that light switch is clearly not the same as it used to be(according to owner).
Why are we even having this discussion ?Start with that friking switch and see what else wrong.
