I thought Angus might find this interesting (considering his name, and stance on global warming. ;)

The UN claims (as some of us on this board have in the past) that methane from cows does more damage to planet earth than automobiles. One could make an arguement that "cows are owned by humans, thus humans are doing the damage" I suppose...either way, car emissions will get better over time, but what about cow emissions?

Quote
A United Nations report has identified the world's rapidly growing herds of cattle as the greatest threat to the climate, forests and wildlife. And they are blamed for a host of other environmental crimes, from acid rain to the introduction of alien species, from producing deserts to creating dead zones in the oceans, from poisoning rivers and drinking water to destroying coral reefs.

The 400-page report by the Food and Agricultural Organisation, entitled Livestock's Long Shadow, also surveys the damage done by sheep, chickens, pigs and goats. But in almost every case, the world's 1.5 billion cattle are most to blame. Livestock are responsible for 18 per cent of the greenhouse gases that cause global warming, more than cars, planes and all other forms of transport put together.

More of the article can be read here, but be forewarned, we're talking about a UN report.

You can also blame the EU for mass production of products that are not consumed. From memory there's some 30% of dairy products that we throw away each day.

There was a tornado in London last week, and it's still above 5 degrees C in this 'supposed-to-be-frostland' ... global warming isn't happening, it's all in your little democrat brains... right.

Again, I will reiterate: Not many people I know of, in my personal life, and this board, disagree that global warming is happening. What we're debating is how much humans have an impact on global warming, and how much is naturally occuring. But don't let that get in the way of a good sterotyping rant on your behalf.

I don't question whether or not it's happening, but I've always questioned the plethora of theories that cause it or even if it's reversible.

That report is why cows must DIE and be grilled. Mesquite would be just dandy. :t

Ripsnort, this doesn't take into account that while south-american beef are skinny and don't have much grass to eat, US cattle is oversized, lives in warmed and carpeted cow stalls (with intardnet access and HD-TV) and receives way too much food! :D

Seriously, for once detractors and followers of this theory will all agree that this global-warming-by-cows is just.... another big pile of BS :aok

By placing the mouth of a liberal over the butt of a cow, you would essential filter out all the bull****.
