Betty, the problem is that it would have made the news somewhere.

Burleson is 13 miles from Fort Worth. This wouldn't have made the Metroplex newspapers? Do you really think that?

Homeowner kills one intruder, critically wounds another, is himself wounded by the perp....and it doesn't make the news?

You don't think that might be just a tiny bit odd?

first off...y would someone lie bout something like this...secondly

There was a guy on here that died. Folks left a huge post of condolences. He turned up later flying in the main and claiming a friend was just 'joking'. People lie on the intardnet. Something like a home invasion and triple shooting with 1 dead should be easy enough to validate - yet no one who has looked can find any mention.

I don't know if its a lie or not, and don't care much, but asking for a date or link isn't uncalled for with something like this...

For the tinfoil types, the reason it didn't make the news is this is becoming commonplace in south Tarrant County. If the guys broke into 3 or 4 places they might make the news.

Just a little advice on the rounds you are using, always match the round to the weapon, never the other way around. Too many people make that mistake. For close range work, 3 FMJ's will do damage but will over-penetrate and will not cause the ballistic blunt trauma you need to induce quickly, black talons are very highly over-rated and tend to be frangible upon impact, they are not that reliable. I would reccomend you check the ballistics charts for various types of ammo and find the one type that is best for your weapon. The best round to use is one that is a jacketed hollow-point, that will expand to approximately .60 caliber or better in expansion, have a penetration depth of 12-16" and be sub-sonic ( that is to say traveling at less than 1200 FPS..feet per second.

The average gunfight, takes place in a distance from 4 -12 feet and is over in under 2.5 seconds with a total of 2 to 6 shots being exchanged between the good guy(s) vs. the bad guys. Rather than rely on progressive round loading, select a round that matches your weapon and train to fire 2 rounds to the chest with an immediate follow-up shot to the head. This with practice can be accomplished in under 2 seconds and guarantees kills. The reason for the follow-up headshot immediately after the two into the chest is that a lot of bad guys, even the home invasion boys (B & E), have started to wear body armor, becasue they realise that more and more homeowners are arming themselves...

I'm not dissing, just offering a little advice.....Rubber

Iceman,
Wish you a very speedy and complete recovery.  Glad you shot well, and also glad you GF is ok.
You sir should be a poster child for the "right to bear arms" and all those who think you should not have a gun, should have been there with you.
Best present Santa could bring you I think: survival!

Based on the premise that someone is innocent (in this case of lying) until proven guilty, I'll believe the story as true.  For those who doubt, you can prove it by going to :

http://www.burlesontx.com/city%20depts/Police/police%20records.htm

They should be able to confirm or deny if the actions described really happened.

hey everyone, Thanks for all the kind words and best wishes, I'm gonna be fine. Can't really talk about anything until my lawyer says I can, but I appreciate all the support everyone has given me. It really makes you feel like your part of a real community and I can't thank you enough... allot of legal crap going on right now so I can't really comment or say anything... For everyone looking for an article the only thing i could find was a small section in the Burleson Star newspaper back on Nov 27th that my best gal found... It all happened back on the 17th and fox 4 news actually said a 45 second thing about it, just showed a map of Arlington area and a star by my neighborhood saying a shooting had taken place and 1 man was dead and 2 injured. That was like on the 18th when fox 4 said it. After I woke up the day after there were reporters from ABC and Fox there and they were just slamming me with questions, basically trying to make me look like a gun toating madman, plus i had just woken up so my girlfriend, fixing to be wife :)  cussed them out the room hahaha, she has been looking for articles and stuff like that too  but all she could really find was an article in my hometown paper of burleson, i live in alrigton now, and have for the past year.... For everyone that sent there best wishes i say again THANK YOU SOOO much... And Yaeger, guess what I don't care if you don't believe me, I guess I could take a picture of my shoulder, or better yet my whole upper right torso area and show ya, but you know what I really don't care if you do or don't brotha.... For everyone else, I really appreciate the kind words, i don't think i'll have access to the BBS again for quite a bit, I have a laptop to keep in touch with email wise, but its my company's so its all firewalled up and i can't get on the BBS, my home computer was trashed, it took some un friendly fire hahaha. I went home for the 1st time today, omg what a mess, my house is just trashed in the living room. The bad part about this whole thing is they poisoned my dog, i have a doggy door on my back door and the police said they must have scoped it out for a few nights, cause they threw a hambuger with rat poison in it over my fence and came in thru the doggy door apparantly. anyways i'm really upset at the arlington PD for the way they handled things, I can't really say allot for legal reasons, but i will say the ambulance got there a good 20 minutes before the cops did, it took them 37 minutes from the time my neighbor who is a fort worth detective called 911 for them to get there, the paramedics couldn't approach my house until the police arrived, luckily I live next door to 3 cops hahahaha, just goes to show you, these gang banging punks are just that dumb, luckily they were dumb enough to use small caliber .25 's that were converted to auto, if they would have used something bigger i would be in allot more trouble lol.... and for whoever said i should have used a shotgun, it was in my gun cabinet in the other room :) but i have a full tactical .45 glock with acp rounds, it did the job just fine :)   The following was in the Burleson paper on the 27th, its a good article, wish they had a link on Burlesons Paper but I couldnt find one, I'll try and get scanned and post it when i get a little more feeling in my shoulder, I'll try and post more if I find it, but net access is hard to come by, especially when i was having to bribe a nurse to get off of yahoo instant messenger just to check my emails, thats tough enough LOL... Once again I appreciate everything, I couldn't ask for better bud's or a better community.

Former Burleson High School Athlete shot
On November 17th 28 year old former BHS football star and later Texas Longhorn Derek Bearden was involved in a horrific shootout at his home in Arlington, TX. The incident  took the life of 1 unidentified hispanic  male, and left Jorge Mescina 33 of Dallas in critcal condition. Bearden class of 96 was listed in stable condition after being shot several times. Local reports are that Bearden and  fiance Mindy Bentley 24, also a Burleson High graduate, were asleep around 2:30 am early Friday morning when they were awoken by what Bentley described as the sound of shuffling and then a glass breaking. Derek Bearden who as his fiance stated "frequents the gun range often" grabbed a .45 caliber glock pistol which happened to be in his shoulder holster slung around the back of a desk chair. Bearden then went to his closet and removed another pistol, this one he gave to his fiance and told her to get under the bed and gave her a 9mm ruger pistol that he had shown her how to use. Records show that both Bentley and Bearden have concealed handgun permits. Bearden then approached the 1st bungler which Bearden claims was rummaging through a desk drawer when he clicked on the flashlight of his pistol and yelled freeze, don't move. Bearden says the person turned at him and he could clearly see some type of handgun in his hand, Bearden fired 6 shots from his .45 hitting the unidentified hispanic male in the chest and upper abdomen fatally wounding him. Bearden claims it all happened so fast he doesn't recall what happened next, he believes that another assailant was in the adjacent bedroom heard gunfire and that's when Bearden turned and was shot 5 times, Bearden was hit in the shoulder 3 times, and in the bicept and upper left chest area once, he returned fire, firing several shots, critically wounding the other perpetrator. After being shot 5 times, Bearden returned to the bedroom where his fiance was and threw a chair through the bedroom window, telling her to run over to neighbor and Fort Worth Police Detective Dave Walter's house and call 911. Walter's already awakened by the shots had already called 911 and was already outside the Bearden residence by the broken window when Bentley came out, he states that Bearden said, I got 2, don't know if there are any more, get her out of here !. Detective Walters rushed Bentley next door and told her not to come outside. When Walters arrived back, he claims that Bearden was in another room looking for more intruders. All of a sudden Walters said, "Derek, you have been hit !" Bearden then slumped down onto the couch. Walters says ." I don't even think he knew he was shot !" Bearden was transported to  Hugely Hospital in South Fort Worth and was listed in stable condition. On another note and a more happy note, Bentley and Bearden have been together nearly 10 years,  since they met in highschool, he was a senior and she was a sophomore. Bentley says that the 1st thing Bearden did when he woke up was to ask me to marry him, which I replied of course !!!  She also says she used to nag him about going out hunting all the time and out shooting, and for even teaching her how to shoot.  Now she says she is just so proud of him and understands why, "Its a crazy world out there, you never know, anything could happen".

Only reason that I let this guy even write the story was because he was the only media person that actaully called me, the rest were just trying to make me look like it was my fault asking crazy questions like why did you do this, and why that... DANG I hate the media !

We're not talking about a crime here, we're talking about a statement made on the intardnet.

Based on your analogy, any statement is to be accepted as true until proven false?

Hey! You better hurry up and contact this guy right away then!

Confidential Proposal/Investment Assistance.

Greetings and love to you in the name of the most high God, from my beloved country Nigeria. I am sorry and I solicit your permission into your privacy. I am Barrister Richard Okoya, lawyer to the late Ibrahim Abacha eldest son of the late former head of state of Nigeria late General Sani Abacha.

My former client late Ibrahim Abacha died in a plane crash in the year 1994. Upon the death of my former client and unknown to the family that is currently under house arrest and undergoing prosecution in the hands of the present administration as a result of human right violation and looting of the country's treasury by the late head of state General Sani Abacha.

Before the death of my client he had deposited US$90,000,000.00 with a secret security firm in two trunk boxes in my name, and I am the only authority to this fund which he was to transfer out of the country few days after he died in a plane crash.

This fund was deposited with the security firm in my name because my client stole this fund from the country's treasury and he did not want anyone to know that he is associated with the fund in question not until the fund is successfully moved out of the country.

The security firm does not know the actual content of the trunk boxes, my client and I told them that the boxes contains old African artifacts to be delivered to a client outside the country via Diplomatic Courier Services. For now it is only you and I that is having knowledge of this fund, and the only assistance I require from you is to help me receive this fund in either Amsterdam, London or Spain depending on our country of agreement and possibly invest it abroad in your area of advice.

This fund shall be disbursed accordingly as follows: 25% for the recipient (you) from the total sum(US$90M). 2% for the courier officer in the country where you shall receive the trunk boxes. 5% set aside from the entire sum for expenses incurred by both parties in due course of executing this transaction (home and abroad). 68% for me.

If you are not satisfied with the percentage sharing of the fund feel free to let me know. In compliance with this you are to immediately forward to me by mail the following: Your full names and address Confidential telephone and fax numbers.

With this information I will immediately commence all necessary documentation for a successful shipment of the first trunk box to your country of choice as all the modalities have already been worked out by me. I will also give you full details of this whole transaction which I have already perfected in due course.

Please note that you are to treat this with utmost confidentiality willing or not willing to assist me in this transaction as nobody knows about this fund and I am still an active lawyer in this country.

THE CHOICE IS YOURS, IF I WERE YOU I WOULD, BECAUSE IT WILL COST YOU LITTLE OR NOTHING TO ACHIEVE THIS AND THE BENEFIT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE FOREVER.

Remain blessed in the name of GOD.
Yours faithfully Barrister Richard Okoya

WTFG Iceman!!

One of my neighbors is a homicide detective and his best advice is to remember that a guy can't testify against you as long as he has a tag on his toe!  hope the other doesn't cause you any additional grief.

BTW Overlag,  isn't America a great place to be able to protect yourself!  (no slam intended)  It's just i believe in being able to bear arms to protect yourself from those that choose to not follow the law and threaten you with deadly force.

Toad,

I actually think we're getting close to the same point, just from different perspectives.  There are many levels to look at.  You're example of the 'good reverend' shows where discretion should be used.  He was asking for financial info, money, etc.  Common sense says run away - especially when it's easy to prove this one's a scam.

Iceman24 didn't ask for anything.  In fact, he didn't even start the post - somebody else did out of their concern for him and desire to share the info with the community.

It's great you want to wait before giving praise and backslapping, I'm just saying maybe you should also wait before pouring on the criticism.

While it may be fair for you to ask where's the proof this did happen, it's also fair to ask where's your proof it didn't happen.

I'm waiting to hear back for the Burleson Star as we speak. Already heard back verbally from staff, and just emailed my contact a copy of the "article" [edit: with a link to this thread]. He seemed a bit surprised.
