If anyone that deserves any blame for this fiasco is Iceman24 himself and not the ones that stood by him as any good friend would have done.
Absolutely Ack-Ack.
I reported this thread to the squad on day 1. I reported a summary of the contents of a squad email to the thread on day 2. I reported that Charon's inital information on the detective may be in error. I did not report on day 4 that I found it suspicious that Arlington city and Tarrent county have searchable police log databases without any information that match up with the story.
I tried to stay neutral and pass along information considering I had no definative proof of the veracity of the information I was relaying.
So what is this day 6? On this day Id like to report that Westly can take the vice-presidents well publicised advise that he gave to Sen Patrick Lahey on the Senate floor.
No issues from me Murdr. In fact, your digging helped lay this to rest once and for all. Without Detective Walters direct contact, there would have still been too much "he said/she said" wiggle room for the hardcore supporters. And, as kind of the focus point on the skeptic side, I would have had to deal with some of that flack far more than I would have ever wanted to. Frankly, I should have been more persistent since they guy I spoke with at the PD that initially couldn't find the detective's name seemed a bit confused, and was going off paper rosters. But, by then it was just icing on the cake, at least for me.
What is ironic, is that without that last post this probably would have just died out as being more trouble than it was worth. The details he provided were literally able to be confirmed in all of about 20 minutes time.
BTW, here is the response I received back from Detective Walters:
WOW, what an imagination. That young man may have a writing career in his future, fiction that is. He grew up two houses from me and he went to school with my daughters. It is all fictitious….. His parents are friends of me and my wife. Thank you for the heads up.
Det Dave Walters
Fort Worth Police Dept.
Major Crimes/ Fraud
If anybody is still skeptical, I would actually suggest calling the Fort Worth general "admin" PD number, and asking for Detective Walters through the switchboard route using his department to make it easy. After all, any number I give could be to my cell phone

He clearly stated that he had no problems confirming this to anyone interested. BTW, the detective is a pilot. I tried to pitch him on AH but he didn't seem too interested.
