Sorry If I didn't Check 6 (or should I be?)
« Reply #15 on: December 26, 2006, 01:02:08 AM »
I give check sixes if I see something and am not preoccupied but I firmly believe SA is the responsibility of each individual player.  If you can't keep track of what's going on around you you probably shouldn't be there.

I get plenty of check sixes when I've been chasing a guy for a while already or when an enemy and I are headed straight toward one another.  I always wonder why they can't tell that I'm the one on the six or that we're merging.  Regardless I try to grab a quick look backside.

Still, I can't stand check six radio whiners.  Check you own damn six once in a while.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

This kind of idiocy pisses me off. If you're too stupid or lazy to look behind you periodically, you deserve to get shot down.

I dont fly "bubble-birds", I dont have good visibility. They do exactly what I do, approach from below, out of sight. If no one else sees it, no worries, but if you are going to use someone as bait you damned well better tell them! In real life, if a pilot was left out to dry because an allied pilot would rather get a kill then protect a friend, he would be court marshaled if he was LUCKY! In most countries however, he would be shot on landing. If you are letting a friendly get killed just so you can score yourself, in my opinion, you deserve to burn in virtual hell. Its even in several signatures here: "Your wingmans bellybutton is always more important than your own". Dont get me wrong, I dont expect the whole world to toss me a check six, only the guy watching me! If you saw a friendly who was up high, and you saw an enemy sneaking up on him, what would you do? (Think carefully, because this may well change how many people think of you)

I can tell you with absolute certainty, I would tell him "You have a bandit behind you. Hold still, im stalking him" From there I would advise him on any maneuvers that would make it easier to waste the guy behind him, while he is aware of the situation.

Check 6
« Reply #18 on: December 26, 2006, 02:51:08 AM »
I give em, but rarely do I get em. I also only try to give em in a situation where one person is in the persuit of another, and an enemy drops in. I have given some when there 2-3 enemy on 1 fighter, and then get on range and tell em im joining in.
I must say this though, from when I started which hasnt been all that long ago. I have noticed checks going out a little more often, but as far as that goes thy were almost non existant b4.
Cheers
Forgot who said this while trying to take a base, but the quote goes like this. "I cant help you with ack, Im not in attack mode" This is with only 2 ack up in the town while troops were there, waiting. The rest of the town was down.

I try and give a “check 6” call as much as possible, If warranted. As far as people getting on the radio and expressing their displeasure about not getting one, So what They are just upset, it happens and thats just the fighter pilot mentality and adrenaline coming out.

I  believe in keeping as many friendly’s alive and around me as possible. I’m not the best one v one nor the best at getting out of a fight when I’m out numbered. I do my best but seem to live longer when I have people around to help. If that means someone gets my kill so be it. I need to worry about my gunnery skills at that point. Keep your friends alive and you tend to stay alive too. Give the “Check 6” calls. They are free.

A few days back we were defending a base.
The hangers go down, so i up from the next closest airfield, and fly in at around 13k.  On aproach a sea of red is below me so i think i'll just b&z a few guys and try and escape...
But then i see the goon and dive down. The goon goes down in a million pieces. I look back and see no less than 6 pissed off bish following me. I evade a few and am thinking i might be able to at least reverse the closest 38 when i get a "check six", i think from someone in the tower. I look back again, and there are now about 15 bogies on my tail from 400 to 1k back. I started laughing so hard that i just let go of the controls and waited for the inevetible.
I can't remember who it was but thanks, that was hilarious! :lol

Dont like check sixs.... Most of the time that I get them I already know someone is on my tail... I just cant be bothered to worry about them cause I am trying to hit the guy in front.... (hey when you get as few kills as me you get all you can)

I will always try to give check6's but it is usually over ranged channel not the check six button

I CANT stand it when I hear someone complain about not getting a Check Six, I usually squelch them on the spot.... Sorry but it bugs me that much....

I am the person, the only person, who is responsible for me staying alive.

People that get shot down then whine about not getting check 6  are just displaying misplaced anger. They  should be mad at themselves(if they feel the need to get mad) and no one else. Then they should proceed on working to improve their SA if they actually rely on check 6's.

To be honest reynolds, I don't really care what other people think of me based on whether or not I check six people who are flying along on auto, utterly oblivious to what's going on around them. If you refuse to maintain your SA, using whatever excuse you come up with, I'm certainly not going to do it for you.

Bretheren...

Let us open the Book of PigStompers...

Chapter Three, Verse One...

1 Brothers, THOU art responsible for thine OWN six.  Chastise thy bretheren NOT for not Checking THY six, as when the screen dissolves to the tower, and our MAKER'S table, it was our own skills, destiny, or lack thereof that brought us there.

Be cognicent that ALL of HiTech's children are responsible for their own deeds and misdeeds, and MASSIVE TARGETS that adorn your backside, if this were not so, you could easily steal, kill, covet, and blame someone ELSE for your transgressions, misturns, badly timed merges and attacks on buffs while you are less than 450 mph...spewing (see Commandments #1-16) ephitheths at thy brothers....This is not to pass.

2 Kind is HE who does check his neighbor's six, as he may be noobeth, and not payeth JACK to his situational awareness.  Blessings be on those who CHECK 6, as their time in the furball shall be multiplied.  Those duly blessed will also, as a matter of human nature, keep a sharper eye on YOUR six in return....but expect it NOT, as country jumpers, noobs, trash-talkers and spies be in thy midsts unbeknownst to you.

3 Beware of the wolf in LA7 clothing, as he may sneak up on thy six at 600 mph unawares before a kind neighbor can warn you.  A Check 6 may come too late to save your pieces from being swept into a Sucrets Box and buried in the Tabernacle.

4 Check 6 unto others as you would have them check six unto you, for by a reminder of your kindness, those who may not have previously given a rat's buttocks about your well being just may return the favor in the next furball.  But, alas, my bretheren EXPECT it NOT.

Can I get an AMEN?

Amen!  I really don't understand the bait thing.  I would far rather check six someone on range and say can you take him up to the left (or down to the right - whatever) and I'll try and get him off.  An enema with a predictable flight path!

My point exactly! And yet people STILL refuse to do even that!
