Joystick - Sidewinder Precision Pro
« on: September 18, 2000, 04:06:00 AM »
I just downloaded 1.041 to see what it was
like, but I can't seem to get it to work
with my joystick. I noticed in the FAQ there
was a mention of Precision Pros being problematic, but I can't find where to get new drivers, as I am currently using Windows 2k rather than Windows 9x. Any hints? Or am I going to have to go back to Windows 98? I stopped using Windows 98 as the internet connection seemed to be interfering with my Voodoo 3 drivers in Warbirds.

I am using the joystick via the USB port.

Thanks

I use a Sidewinder Precision Pro USB with Windows 98 and a Voodoo 5.

I haven't tried it with Win2k, but if it sets up and calibrates in Windows, it should work in the game.  However the one area where I expect problems in Win2k is with controllers, so I would not be surprised if there were some issues there.

Can you test and configure this thing in Win2k?  Have you hit MS's web site and got the latest Sidwinder software?

It's not a problem with anything else
(Warbirds, FS:SDOE, EAW, etc, etc) just
Aces High. Someone mentioned that it might
work ok via the soundcard rather than the
USB, so I will have to see if I can find my
changer thing so I can try that.

Many have mentioned they haven't been able to make AH recognize USB controllers under Win2k.

I think that's your problem. Try plugging the stick in your gameport.

I have the same problem in Win 2k.

Sidewinder works fine from Control Panel/gamecontrolers. But no responce at all in AH. Haven't tried moving it to the gameport.

I run it WITHOUT the Game Controler Software installed, was wondering how the rest of you ran it.

I have a MS sidewinder pro (gameport) and ch pro pedals (usb) running in win2k. In the last version of AH I couldn't use any of them. The new version from today, I can get my sidewinder working, but not my pedals. AH doesn't see any movements from the pedals.

The pedals work fine in windows, and in other sims.

odd.
