Well, practical problem with Doolittle Raid in SEA then.
Sixteen B-25's carried 4 500# bombs each. No escort. No tail guns. Japanese did not know they were coming. Total surprise.
SEA event. Both sides have a good idea what's happening. B-25's on the deck w/o escort, w/o tail guns, would be dead meat against Japanese defenders.
I agree with Nemeth too; I argue for the A-26 because it's a perkable ride (that's not the B-29); otherwise, the plane sets of other countries need additions before U.S. plane sets gets another bomber. Soviets, Germans, Japanese, and English could all use additional bombers for SEA before American plane set.
