What error are you encountering? We can't help you if we don't know. Also, read this post here:

It might help you tweak your computer to make AH run.

Is it an error message stating something to the effect of that "Aceshigh.exe has encountered and unrecoverable error and was closed by Windows. A bug report is being generated."

EDIT: Have you been able to play before on the computer you're attempting to start AH on?

When you get home we'll need a DXDiag. What you do is you go to: Start>Run
Type in: dxdiag
and press OK. Then after it's finished (takes about a minute) press the "Save All Information" button and save it to a place accessible. Then paste the results onto this forum.

You only need to paste up to and including the sound or sound capture devices. Don't need direct music or USB or gameport lists. Just up to and including sound, nothing after that.

System Restore works wonders.
If you like the Sick Puppy Custom Sound Pack the please consider contributing for future updates by sending a months dues to Hitech Creations for account "Chalenge." Every little bit helps.

System retores will probably break it worse, in this case.

The error normally happens when either the sound or video card drivers are borked.  Do you have the dreaded automatic update enabled in Windows?
