I'd say I'm the smart but undisciplined tpye.  I'll break off an engagment if I see I'm getting sucked into the furball that you know you won't come out of.

I like to fly above the crowd and draw up the poor victoms.  Generally I'll wait it out until the time is right to strike.  I find myself getting shot down when I don't have the patience to wait to for that ideal time.

If i see a single fighter, i turn into them.
if i see a overwhelming number, i fall back untill i meet up with a few green, then i 180 and head directly into the fry.

My objective is to brake up the pack, and try to divert the attention, if i can i will also point my plane head long to the enemy field and "ping pong ball" at every fighter i can get into gun range, all while keeping my speed and nose pointed generaly at the enemy base.

Some pilots will chase for a bit, then turn away and return to the front lines.
MOST, just nose down and give it full wep tryin' to chase my 38'
in most cases i dislodge a heavy attack, lure them back to there own side, and maby get a few kills, or damage others long before they ever enter the range of front line combat. "thus forceing them to rtb from damage :P"

Im  a raider, and the only time i realy care about fighting is to SUPPORT a wingman, other than that, you can see me makeing suicide attacks on enemy fields all while flying right thru flocks of enemy fighters fully intent on geting to the front lines.

Nothing makes me smile like draging a flock of baddies to there own base and enabeling my men to have more numbers on the front.

Huzzah.

Some of both, leaning somewhat to squirming weasel.

But there is nothing so enjoyable to me as to start out with a disadvantage, and turn the tables on that cherry picker!

I guess it depends on my mood and whether or not i'm watching a hockey game (as i often do) while i play. Sometimes i just want to mix it up and other times i'll grab afk while watching the game and get alot of alt which usually ends up in me doing a pick here and there. I cannot ALWAYS "fly" cautiously as some do in here-treating their (virtual) life as if it were real. I've tried it a few times but it usually results in severe boredom for me. I find that i play MUCH better when i get worked up a bit so once in awhile i'll throw out some smack on 200 to get things going. :D  (I'm quit sure i'm not the only one either)

My biggest problem is that i seem to pick a target and i don't care if he's setting me up for 10 other to pick me off.......I MUST KILL HIM. Major target fixation:D

There is NOTHING more fun in this game then when you find a guy 1v1 similar alt (you don't know who it is) and you tangle with each other for a long time with both of you not able to get an advantage. When i get into a fight like that it's a little disappointing to lose but it's fun as hell either way.:aok

My 2 cents

Oh.... I Think that I am the Duelist/squirming weasel  type. I havent figured out how to be the great CP that some are.
I fly too many different types of aircraft to be "good" in any single one of them exclusively, and I find myself in more situations that make my pits sweat than those that make my brain yawn.

4XTCH: Oh.. theres a spit down there.. I'm rolling in

4XTCH: Opps.. more than just just one... I gotta bug out..

LippyCH: ZOMG 4X you've got 5 trailing yea... (Laughing histerically)..watch it, you got an LA7, Yak and a tiffie closing in!

4XTCH: Oh yea...I know.. I see em... dont worry bout me.. I'll be dead soon

Duelists may get more kills per hour of play, but tend to have lower Kill/Death ratios ...
Duelists feel that the only skill is ACM and utilizing anything other than maneuvering and/or energy management to attain a shot in order to win an engagement is the mark of dweeb.

Kind of chilling that you have described it so well...

Yup, that's me.  And if I'm getting more kills per hour of play than a smart flyer (or a dumb flyer, for that matter), it's a surprise to everyone.

I learned my way of fighting from the old AirWarrior online lectures on SA, E management and equalization and pure ACM.

Whether that puts me in one of these pigeon holes that the OP has created is of no consequence to me.

According to my wife, I'm just 'playing computer'. I'll leave it at that.
