Do YOU want the Terrain CHANGED?

I played for 2 or 3 hours straight last night and had no headaches, therefore the  terrain DOES NOT cause headaches.

Sort out the settings on your puter, before you post drivel on here about how the new terrain causes headaches!

Not everyone is going to be effected the same as you.. It's like saying you drank 6 beers and didn't get drunk but someone else drank 3 and passed out.

I agree on a few issues, Sincraft. For me, the terrain doesn't cause headaches nor do I have a more difficult time spotting low cons. However, I am almost apalled by the way the landscape looks at mid to high alt. Glossy dark green with spots of darker green, it reminds me of something from A-10 Cuba or F/A-18 Hornet 2.0.

There's no other logical explanation for this other than that what we are seeing is simply a template for further design. I hope this is the case.

I was playing in 8 player mode last night and the map on the server had the new terrain but it looked drastically better than how the terrain looks in the MA maps. There were far more tiles of farms, rivers, etc. It actually looked pretty good. I hope that we are headed in that direction, and we are only now seeing the beginning.

I love the new terrain.
Personally I can see targets much easier.

i played for about 4 hours last night,i had to adjust the gamma so i wasnt blinded by the sky but then this made the land really too dark. After spending a little longer adjusting my settings i got it so i could play reasonably well.
I will admit that i don't at the moment like the look of the terrain from a aircraft view it just looks too bland,to boring.

As for headakes adjusting the gamma stoped it ,the different contrast between ground and sky and having it to bright will bring on headackes.

i havent used the tank yet so i guess tonight i might

I think the terrain looks good (although a little too dark) when on the ground. But when in a plane, it is way too dark. Also, the higher up you get, the more two dimensional it looks. It reminds me a lot of the old AWIII graphics at high alt.

Mind you, these are just things I don’t like about it. There is much more that I am impressed by, including the new hedgerows, trees, guns etc. But this post is about the terrain.

I hate it theres not enough detail and the green blobs of forest make it look ugly.

I HATE IT!!!!!!!!!

There is not enough contrast in the ground to get a good reference point when attacking GV's.

Thumbs up from me!

Have had no probs with headaches or darkness or green blobs.

On the deck at 350mph = Awesome

This is with graphical settings at 80% or so and an Nvidia 7800GSagp & LCD monitor.

May I suggest those with the problems also list their hardware config, might help.

While there's several things I like about the new terrain (some semmingly recovered from AHI) I can't stand the lack of depth perception.  I can't seem to fight anything near the ground when my screen is green.  Somehow it seems to have totally thown off my aim too (last night I was 200 off two different peoples sixes and couldn't hit them and one was flying straight while I was saddled up for almost a minute).

To me the old terrain felt very realistic.  It seemed every couple of weeks I would be in awe of just how realistic certain aspects of it were and new development was almost always an upgrade to the immersion of the AH world.

The new terrain feels like flying through a cartoon to me.  Many have suggested it's just the beginning.  If that's the case then I think they should have waited to release it until it was further along in development.

So far I'd say we took a big step backward in the realism of our virtual world.

That said I'll wait to see what happens.  It's still better than Air Warrior I was and i had fun there.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

After playing with my nVidia controls for a while, I got a color, contrast, and gamma setting I can live with in the game.  Haven't played a long session to see what the effects will be as far as tired eyes or headache yet.

MOST of what was done I like.
* Oceans color is close to what you would find in the North Atlantic.  Won't look good at all in PTO or MTO maps though.  So: Win-Lose.
* The gun pits and beaches and beach obstacles all look good and nice addition.
* The thick pine forests are also well done, along with their ground vegetation.  They look a lot like some forest expanses that can be found in the Colorado Rockies.
* The fires and smoke at strat factory seem different, but better the other night I attacked one.
* hedgerows and especially the new look of the trees are good.

Negative:
The broad, wide, bland, stark, nearly empty dull, dark green expanses between everything else.  Too dark.  Too empty.  No more barns for GV's to hide it and take shelter.  No more overhead cover for GV's.   No more villages, farms, haystacks, or copse of trees scattered about.  Nothing to denote barren ground, rock, clay, or signs of civilization.  No roads or rails (other than drone convoy routes).  No bridges (other than drone convoy route).  No rivers or streams.
All you see there now is the occasional tree, a couple sheep, and a windmill.  And a lot of green.  Seems to be a step back from "realism" for game immersion.  I've flown many times, and have never seen the ground look anything like that from the air.
But, maybe it was done that way for performance and frame rate reasons.

If you're using the HIRES pack, make sure that you deleted your AH cache folder before installing the pack.  This helped fix the stutters for me.
