Just a slight touch with ground textures would do.

Only thing hard to see is GVz, which oh well. Now you just can't get in them and start snipin people.

This patch was great.. they spread out the fighter hangars more to stop the porkin by dweebs.

They made the trees look more realistic, but kept the number of them down so they don't suck up the frames like the old ones did. (Or not as bad I shoudl say)

The game is not lighter, but a LOT clearer. If you adjust your monitor right, there's nothing hard about seeing the planes to give you any headaches.

Sounds to me like a lot of you just don't like change. A lot of you complaining about this patch are the same ones complaining about the other patches as well. And I'm not real sure, but almost positive that things don't get changed because of the few whines HTC reads here. Just a guess though.

Crockett your comparison is so off the mark its untrue.

If people are prone to headaches then no amount of tweaking their system will fix it. But these people in question can't be prone to headaches cos otherwise the same thing would have occured in the old version!

Therefore they need to tweak there settings as I have already said.

I agree. A bit patch-like from up high. I understand some of it may turn out that way, like farmland for example, but it appears to be a bit overdone. A combination of the old and new would be sufficient, IMO. The bases look excellent, and so does the water.
HTC, thanks for the effort. :)

The terrain is great! Hopefully HTC will keep this up with the versions in the future. I have a cross-fire mobo using a x1950 and the REZ and sliders all the way up!

I very much like the new terrain, the new trees, the new details.  However, without a doubt it is too dark on my computer.  The ground is so dark that the subtle shading that gives you spatial reference and depth perception ends up being lost in the difference between very very dark and merely very dark.

However, I have improved the look quite a bit by tweaking my graphics card settings.  In my Radeon control panel, under Color, 3D, I have brightness upped to +50 and contrast reduced to 80.  (Gamma is set in the game to 1.8.)  These settings are for full screen 3D only so they don't affect normal use of the computer.  (They would mess with other 3D games, but I don't play other 3D games.)

I am sure that I will be able to get things the way I like by further tweaking the brightness and contrast as mentioned above.  I'll probably get it just right at about the time HTC issues a patch to make things brighter ;)

Sort out the settings on your puter, before you post drivel on here about how the new terrain causes headaches!

You don't therefore it doesn't happen?

My 'puter (what are you 12?) is just fine.

I love the new graphics but I also have a system it displays too dark on.  I DO play other 3-D games, and I will not risk my monitor OR  anything else by tweeking my system. I will wait ill it gets fixxed as I have all the confidence in the world it will be fixxed.

Till then, I can stand to play for about an hour or so, depending on alcohol consumption at the given flight  time.....:D

Weird...

I love the new terrain.  I've got the graphics cranked up as high as they'll go and I'm really loving it!

The beaches, trees, buildings...good stuff!  I'm trying hard to understand what kind of problems folks are having but can't really sort it out.  I fly in r/l and honestly, it's hard to make out every little detail in the terrain below you even when flying low at a couple thousand feet.  To me, this new terrain more realistically simulates what I'm seeing when I'm really behind the stick.

Give it awhile, maybe you'll get used to it.  Also, if you're getting headaches, it's because...

~it's more realistic!  That's right, your eyes are sending a signal to your brain that conflicts with your inner ear, that of motion.  Now that there's more detail and realism in the ground, your eyes are screaming at the brain that you're moving, and your ears are insisting that you're standing still.  Take some dramamine til you get used to it.
