Again, -what was the change for?.....

"Note: The terrain changes in this version will require all existing terrains to be updated. If you run an older terrain offline with this version, you may see some graphic errors in the terrain transitions, especially in the forests. Just download an updated terrain to fix the issue..."  Quote from the "read-me" sticky posted on Fly AH.

I downloaded a pile of terrains and got my offline to look pretty good without the strange lime green patches, but online the lime green patches persist.

That isn't my real complaint. This change has really wiped out my video card performance. (ATI 9100 series with 128meg). It worked great in the earlier version, but this new release has really put the screws to me. Sound cuts out, (I already turned down my acceleration) and the screen presentation freezes for a second or two at odd intervals (maybe when I am closer to the ground??).

(I am on a 100 mps cable connection, and my packet and ping stats are great.)

I have been able to straighten out the darkness and cold color temperature with tweaks on my CRT controls, but enable/disable of some of the controllable parameters on  AH graphics control really have no effect on the problem. Do I have to go out and spend a bunch more money to stay in the game? (I am technical, but not really up on all the latest stuff. PC mags are not something I relish reading...) Damn, just when I was starting to really enjoy it in here....

That's a good point, when this patch came out I deleted my terrain folder & got the new stuff clean.

Worth a try for those with problems?

Overall I like it quite a bit.  I think the only problem has to do with the 'grain' of the ground texture when seen from a distance.  It seems to quantize to a solid color therefore losing the depth that people seem to be mentioning.  Looks great when lifting off, at about 3k alt. it quantizes.  Oddly, it looks good again at high alt. (18K or so...not that I ever really fly that high...no really....uh).

Ya'll need to STFU and have some patience.

You dont think they know?
ffs, give them some time to add all the little brush and such, like we use to have.

IMHO it now looks like we have new lighting. so we need new objects and such to render correctly with such said lighting.
You are all forgeting how FAKE and how CARTOON the older version's were.
HT is takeing the right steps, just allow them to add more ground detail.
or heaven forbid USE YOUR PLANES FRAKIN' INSTURMANTS!

ffs you people.

I agree with this, however, it would ease much of the repeated whining, etc. if HiTech would occasionally see fit to respond generally with a comment that an issue is being looked into to.

I think what generates so many posts/whines/etc. is there is no responsive feedback at all from HiTech most of the time, on even the bigger problems as perceived by the customers.

Does HiTech ever respond to major bug/performance/game issues?

On the ground or in a GV it looks fantastic.

From the air other then bases and cities and such it looks  nothing short of atrocious

No headaches here. It is just the least realistic and most annoying looking terrain we've had yet

I would be willing to bet that most of the 'I hate it' crowd are on older vid cards or drivers.

I'm running Nvidia 8800GTS and haven't seen any of these gamma or depth perception problems...  my only complaint is the tiles look bad and repetitive from high altitude...REALLY BAD!

Some of you need to stop getting mad at people that point out things they don't like or have problems with in ... we're paying customers, and we have a right to complain if we don't like something. Like any business, Hitech Creations probably welcomes criticism and suggestions.

I personally like the new terrain. However, I do admit I auger more and have a hard time seeing enemy aircraft below... it has been causing problems, but it's not making me want to quit. Some of you that immediately suggest a new video card are out of touch - a person should be able experience complete game play with an mid-level Dell(example), without needing upgrades to see terrain 'correctly'.

I'm sure Hitech&Co are working a lot of things out right now and they're really busy, so we should all take a deep breath, keep giving a few suggestions and patiently wait for the updates.
