LOL...yeah right. I'm sorry, I love the P-47s too, but the -4 Hog is on another level of performance altogether than any of the P-47s are. The only negatives to the -4 hog are poor range and average guns, but it is still the best prop plane in the game.

I also like the Ki84, P-40E, 109F and the FM-2.

Well, my self imposed limit is ENY 15, so I can fly the Ki-84......

although I did up a cannon heavy 110G2 this past week to kill a flock of LVT's.... but ord was out... and it was desperation, and grabbed the first cannon heavy plane I saw on the list.  I felt so dirty, I had to up A-20G's and C.205's for a while.

It isn't. It's big brother, the Tempest is much faster at all altitudes. So is the La-7 up to about 12k, the 109K4 and 190D-9 at almost any altitude, and lots of other planes above 5k.

When I said Typhoon, I meant all variations.
Tempest is a variation of the standard Typhoon...which yes is faster then it's standard base model.

The 109K4 or 190D-9 to my knowledge cannot catch a Typhoon or a Tempest about 5k to deck (which is where most fights occur on average).
Then you said "lots of other planes above 5k...." .....planes that are faster then the Typhoon?
Name them please! :)

*****EDIT*****

Okay, decided to post some speed charts.

So, just to quote you again Lusche, you said the 109K-4 and the 190D-9 are faster than the Typhoon at "almost any altitude."

Sorry to say but from the charts the Typhoon is faster then both aircraft on deck. At 5,000 ft the Typhoon is doing about 375mph. The 109K-4 is only doing 365ish, and the 190D-9 is doing 360ish.
So from 5k to deck, the Typhoon is STILL faster then the 109K-4 and the 190D-9....hmm, any altitude huh? :lol

Even at 10,000 ft the 109K-4 is around the same 185ish range as the Typhoon does at that same altitude. The 190D-9 however goes slightly faster then the Typhoon at 10k.

Then you said the LA-7 is faster then the Typhoon "up to about 12k."
From the charts, the Typhoon will outspeed the LA-7 until about 5,000 ft.
So sorry! Wrong again.

Next time you wanna get technical and nitpicky, do yer homework! :D

I've flown and/or driven 54 different planes and vehicles over the past three months.  I could give you reasons for and against flying any one of them.

One thing you might look at is the community/scores/view kills in expanded format links above and view model vs model, all models.  It will show you the overall K/D ratio of each plane for the arenas.  Pick one that seems good and go try it.  If it doesn't suit you move down the list.

I pesonally do best in German iron or British plywood.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

The 109K4 or 190D-9 to my knowledge cannot catch a Typhoon or a Tempest 6k to deck (which is where most fights occur on average).
Then you said "lots of other planes above 5k...." .....planes that are faster then the Typhoon?

The Tempest is so different to the Typhoon that I certainly would not call it a variation. It's not only faster by a huge margin (about 20mph), but it turns better and has a decent roll rate, quite contrary to the Typhoon.  And last but not least more pure powwer & acceleration, the Tempest has a more than 1200 ft/min bigger climbrate on deck. There is a reason that the Typhoon has usually a k/d between 6 and 7 and the Typhoon around 1.5 ...

You can and have to fly the Tempest in a very different way.

At Sea Level, D-9, K-4 and Typhoon have about the same speed: D-9 ~377 mph, Tiffie & K-4 ~ 370 mph. It all depends on initial energy, but note that the german planes have almost double WEP endurance.
And if a D-9 or K-4  running from a Typhoon and the Tiffies energy surplus is not too big, they can just steadly climb away.

And here are some planes faster than Typhoon:

La-7: Faster at all altitudes but 13-18k
109K-4: much faster at any alt above 5k
P51D: Only 3-4 mph slower under 7k, faster at all alts above that
109D-9: Slightly faster than Tiffie up to 6k, way faster above that
Spit XIV: faster above 6k
F4U-4: 10mph faster on deck, and faster at all alts above 7k
P47-N: faster above 7.5k
Yak9-U: faster from about 6.5k up;)

EDIT: I would recommend you'd  look at those speed charts again. And use your glasses this time... :D
Even on those HTC charts you can see that the Typh WEP speed on deck is under 375mph, the LA well above...

at 10K, the graphs clearly show 109K max speed around 415mph vs. Tiffies 380mph:

For detailled comparisons, go to http://gonzoville.com/ahcharts/index.php:

Or download Spatulas excellent plane performance comparison tool. If I rember right, there was also an excel spreadsheet somwhere to find at http://www.netaces.org.

I went out and tried the Ki-84 last night and I must say I am impressed. Thank you for taking the time to help novices out, guys.
