Fester's flown a few goons himself fellas, I don't think he just wants to make them easier kills for himself.
I actually like the idea. It would require the goon driver to seek useful fighter escort.
The exterior views on bombers make up for all the gunners eyes, the C47 didn't have that.

Why iculus?

Think for a second that somebody else proposed it fellas. Would your attitude be different? (I'm not saying it would, just ponder the thought)

I see no reason to remove C-47 external view.

-- Bombers and C-47s have external view because there are multiple sets of eyes on board that can look around.

-- Fact is any plane can auger if he sees you coming and he doesn't want to give you a kill.  You can't prevent that kind dweebery.

If the bombers and C47 F3 views give you views that "multiple eyes" would not get then remove them.  When I use F3 I can clearly see everything around my entire plane.  Clearly.  Now I've never been in a C47, but when I did fly in the Texas Raiders B17 I don't recall being able to see around every inch of the airplane.

I suppose there's no easy answer -- I can use F3 and rotate to views not normally seen by human eyes; I can pretend that F3 simulates "multiple eyes" to the best of it's ability; I can not use F3 and switch from turret to turret; or I can rely on a human gunner to tell me (the pilot) where the cons are.

Not that it makes any difference if I know where the cons are; when I have a human gunner, I don't take severe evasive moves anyways -- it screws up my gunners shots.

Just my opinion.

<edit: On second thought, if I had a gunner in every position in a B17 then I just might be able to see as much as F3 provides, what with the nose, tail, upper, and ball gunners.  B17 should be the only one who has F3; these other planes without ball gunners should not be able to see under the plane>

It's just a pointless restriction IMO, hblair.  Whether Fester or Fatty brought up the idea.  If a fighter sees a C47, the C47 is dead.  If he sees an incoming fighter and wants to auger, what's the big deal?  He's dead and won't be dropping troops on your field.

Generating the use of fighter escort really doesn't enter into it...besides, when is the last time you saw a fighter escort stop a determined con from downing a goon?   :)

Heck, I auger fighters all the time, I think they should lose front view to prevent me taking advantage of that.

Yeah, lets further make it more impossible to get a country-mate to bring a goon to a dead field.

DOH!

Ya the goon didnt have as many eyes as a bomber...only little portholes all along the side with scared paras looking out with eyes as big a saucers.
The stupid things where only to be used in conditions of absolute air superiority...Or in admin areas. We make a totaly vulnerable plane one of the most important in our game...and people want to restrict it further...It has to fly noe to live but we want to make it harder to do so..
I assume that fester was joking.

I don't care about whether I get a kill on a goon or not. I never mentioned that was my thinking. Matter of fact I augered one last night on a field capture gone bad.

The fighter escort thing I mentioned wasn't for protection, no plane in the game can be effectively escorted in that sense. I was using the term "escort" as a way of watching his six for him from a distance...

No pongo, you know you want it, quit trying to act like you want exterior views on the goons.
Guys, pongo wants no exterior view available on goons, as does SOB, and SWulfe.

Thanks,
hb
