The art of the killshot.....

Or Corky's lesson number 156 on losing parts without really trying.

It starts with Corky in his old and slow, battered 38G out and about looking for targets.  And of course when a Headhunter spots a Japanese bird, he kinda locks on to it.  This time in was a N1K.

Thankfully the N1K thinks he can out turn the old and slow 38G and Corky starts getting the flaps down to get inside the turn.

But wait!  Help is on the way in the form of a Tempest.

Note that Corky is below Zazen's nose so Zazen can't see the 38.

Zaz, being in the far faster bird continues to close, at which point Corky notices another airplane coming through his cockpit, just as he fires again

Again, no fault of Zazen as he never saw my 38 and I wasn't watching for him as I was locked in on the N1K.  The gun button is down and the damage is done

Who needs flaps :)

As Zazen shoots through, I still managed to get hits on the N1K and he went down.  I rtb'd with half my flaps missing from trying to shoot down Zazen's Tempest :)

Any questions?

Perfect example of when killshooter goes wrong. No fault, but penalty remains the same. Still, imagine what it would be like without it.

there is always fault on the part of someone for failing to maintain their SA. in this case, it just happens to be a B38 dork. ;)

Zazen picking in a tempest.. hehehe status quo. For the record, I doubt zazen was unaware of your 38, he probably wanted the kill and didn't give a rat that you were saddled.

I have had people swoop in and cross my guns to kill that which I am saddled on. It is really frustrating to hit my own oil or fuel, then I have to limp away without my kill.  It ok though, this game is still great and its people are great. :aok

Ive killed and been killed many times in this situation. Most times if I see tracers low spraying out in front of me I will break off. Sometimes I was fighting the guy for awhile and see the tracers, I say to the other guy(in my mind) good luck buddy, hope you dont hit me.

Have you ever spawned on a runway?

Well, you wouldn't anymore, with collisions on.

No text buffer, it's from the film viewer after-the-fact.
