P-47 Thunderbolt
« on: June 13, 2007, 10:01:03 PM »
Well, im not sure why, but ive recently had the sudden desire to learn an American plane, and again, im not sure why, but I really want to learn the jug. Ive read the evaluation pages about it, and watched some old War Department training films on it, but I cannot seem to get anything going. My model of choice is the P-47 D-11, followed by the D-20. Is anyone here willing to spend some time in the TA teaching me how to fly this great aircraft?

Wow! My grandpa invited me to dinner with some of his friends today, and an amazing stroke of luck, one of his friends flew both the P-47D and P-47N during the war! I had a great conversation with him, only to discover to my dismay, he had nothing positive to say about it, lol. Hated the aircraft, and of course, not to my surprise he made it abundantly, clear that his favorite piston engined plane to fly (He also flew Sabres in Korea) was the P-38.

lol, I said, "not to my surprise". I have yet to meet a pilot who favored ANY plane more than the P-38.

Actually, chuck yeager didnt have terribly much to say about his precious Mustang. He wasnt NEARLY so quick to compliment her as most P-38 pilots are... (Yes, ive talked to him)
