You might have known her brothers, Bill and Bob, They went to HS in Goose bay also.  Bob played the guitar and had a small band I think.  My wife says Bill graduated 65 and Bob in 66.  They both joined the Air Force.  Bill was a navigator on B-52s,  I dont remember what Bob did but he retired in 90 or so as a LtCol.  Bill got out after Vietnam and worked for the IRS, I think he's retired now too.

I flew out of Meacham Field when Carswell AFB had B-52 alert practices.  Very interesting especially the lack of vis withing a 4 nm area around Meacham and Carswell.  Always interesting when F-16 dancing in and out of airspace that I WAS PRACTICING STALLS WITH A STUDENT!  If that wasnt nerve racking enough.

I'm not 100% sure what it is called now. In 1976 it was called simply Carswell AFB.

I was taking flying lessons through the aero club at Grissom in '82. Seems we were in one of the clubs Piper Warriors though my memory could be faulty. We took off behind a KC-135 with what we thought was enough distance to avoid those heavy wingtip vortices created by a plane loaded with enough fuel to put the Exxon Valdez to shame. About 200 feet in the air we hit a downdraft that dropped us about 50 feet.  Only time I had an instructer jerk the controls from me and **** his pants. :D

One of our AKs is currently active duty and flies B1s. He sent this to us a couple of days ago.
