Birs of Prey were started in AW classic (circa 1994) on AOL by Tiger and Dragon...they started as Knights of Justice (KoJ) and then became BoPs...back then we flew in wings and used the BOP (wing#)(flight position) designation so my CPID then was Bop2d....

We flew only in AWC RRE4 as BZ and the squads i remember fighting were the EFW, Nazgul and most importantly the =ironeagles=...man what great fights we had back then....also there was an annoying 190 pilot named HAJO (named after hans joachim) who eventually joined BoPs but i cant remember the name of the squad he flew with then...i want to say Vati was the leader and Bazi flew back then too...but memories fade..

i remember going to other arenas back then to find fights with the nomads because i liked the 38 the most and wanted to test myself...there was a good 38 pilot named vampire....

I started AW when it was free on AOL (December 94) on my first day of internet in the household.  We had a shiny new Dell computer and one of the first versions of AOL that it came with.  It took me all of 5 minutes to click on "Games" and see a P-51 Mustang and big red letters spelling out Air Warrior

I joined the 444th Air Mafia shortly after bagging my first kill, LPN, taking off from an AZ base.  I of course was an AZ player and was quickly educated on why it was a bad idea to shoot the blue players if I was one.  *PAK* was the CO then and I flew with them including MugZ, PYRO, LPN, MDJOE and others until joining the ~U.S.M.C.~

Our rivalry with the MAWs was legendary and hands down the most fun I've ever had playing flight sims.

I was the exception rather than the rule back then as one of the youngest players.  I signed up in December of '94 at the tender age of 11 and have been hooked ever since.  I received $10/month allowance back then so I was able to afford my Gamestorm account when it shifted there.  When it went to $15 I negotiated a raise in allowance and continued.

Played on through EA and into AH since the demise of AW in 2001.  I signed up springtime of '02 for AH after not being happy with Warbirds and WWIIOL.

Since then the game has evolved, the community has developed and I have to say I long for the good old days when Bingo Fuel and Winchester calls were honored.  z12345 flew the goons out of the mainlands, you could blow up Spitfire factories and one map was good enough for each arena.

I'm proud to have been in the ~U.S.M.C.~ squadron who lives on today as "Grim's Reapers" still flying for, you guessed it...Grim.

I will miss fighting the MAWs.  I enjoyed fighting against xbrit in his F6F.  40MAW could make a P-51 dance and my voice was more squeaky than it is now.  I grew up with this game and I wouldn't have had it any other way.

December 7th.  Remember Pearl Harbor and remember Air Warrior.

Who was the AW squad with the "Croix De Fu"?
Treize (pronounced 'trays')- because 'Treisprezece' is too long and even harder to pronounce.

I knew I was in a squad with ya DaPup, for some reson I thought it was TFC instead of Airwolves.  Airhead was a riot, and was also pretty capable of starting one. I seem to recall seeing him in AH on a couple occassion, but not for any length of time. I remeber a picture of him in white leatard, pink tutu, and a hollowed out car battery for a hat.

Couldn't have been 94 as all that was post 96 time frame.  There was no AW Classic in 96 as it was the only AW we had :)

The multiple arenas were when AOL went away from pay by the hour.

I used to CO a squad called -=Black Widows=- in AW on GameStorm. Mostly a bomber squad.  Mucho fun with the Deathstars.
My CPID was =DooL=.  Man, that was a long time ago.

Means a lot that people still remember Shillelagh. I was blown away when I came across AW3 in Electronics Boutique around 10 years ago. Was further blown away when Hornet said that little squad I started and promptly left was still kicking, and kicking quite mightily at the time.

The ones I remember most are the Musketeers (who didn't want that --)--HANDLE---- ?), 13th TAS (Mostly thanks to Doom that I remember them), ARM, PigStompers, EFW-SOG, and Turkey Hams (just for the name!). The Damned are a given (Snowman taught me 60% of what I know).

And I'll never forget the Rat Patrol, my first AW squad when we had numbers as our main IDs in AW DOS... I was 2702 at the time. Pops and his kids and a few chums made my entry to the game so much fun. Got me up early on weekends, too with like 7am squad times on Saturdays. To this day I still get up that early on weekends and people think I'm crazy.

CC that...

It started on AOL in '96. Actually, I don't ever remember "AW Classic" on AOHell. I know it was on Gamestorm.
