The next scenario: Der Grosse Schlag!
« on: July 07, 2007, 02:43:45 PM »
The next scenario is:

It is November, 1944.  The US 8th Air Force is exerting itself to its limits, sending enormous waves of escorted heavy bombers into Germany for wide-ranging strikes in an attempt to bring Germany to its knees.  However, General Galland has gathered Luftwaffe resources and is focusing its remaining might, which is substantial.  His goal is to inflict horrific losses upon the 8th Air Force, preferably enough to crack its resolve.  His goal is to deliver “Der Grosse Schlag” -- The Great Blow.

This scenario will pit 8th Air Force P-51D’s, P-51B’s, P-47D-25’s, P-38J’s, P-38L's, B-24J’s, and B-17G’s against Luftwaffe Bf 109K-4’s, Bf 109G-14’s, FW 190D-9’s, and FW 190A-8’s.  The US will have strategic targets to destroy, and the Luftwaffe will do all it can to take down the enemy fighters and bombers.  This is a battle for supremacy in the skies over Germany.

Pilots get two lives each frame, and there will be four frames plus one practice frame.  The scenario is designed for a ratio of USAAF players to Luftwaffe players of 1.0 to 0.95 (nominally 112 USAAF fighter pilots and 27 USAAF bomber pilots to 130 Axis fighter pilots).

More details, when they are available, will be posted at:

Attention command pilots:

Both the Luftwaffe and USAAF sides are looking for command staff (such as Group Leaders). If you are interested, please send a private message to Stampf (the LW CO) or Fencer51 (the USAAF CO). Let them know that you are interested, and please tell them which scenarios you've played in and in what capacity (such as where you flew as a GL).

Are we still looking at an October start?

I saw that schedule for this scenario has not yet been decided, but do you think it will be run on saturdays night (Euro time, afternoon in EST), as the other ones?

Current thought is that it will run the same time frame as Husky with a 3pm Eastern start time.

Ya I'm surprised it isn't running in September or late late August, early September.

Giving plenty of time to plan and getting it close to the right time of year too.

I've already started polishing my B-Pony to keep up with all those bubbletop dweebs. (I know I'm actually faster at alt, shhhhhh)

The idea is to have July for Team Lead construction, a solid month (august) of registration then another solid month of team practice (september) then run the event in October.

This should drive up attendance, and really put the training and practice times to good use.

3pm Eastern is the target time.  Early for West Coasters, afternoon for East Coast and evenings for Europe.

I was a GL on Husky and I gotta tell ya I'm looking forward to just sitting back and taking the orders on this one instead of giving them out:) .

allow me to take this opportunity to ask all involved to quit PM'n me regarding any scenario events.  I will never participate in any scenario.  I have absolutely no interest at all whatsoever in sceanarios and find them to be about as much fun as watching paint dry.

thanks

I've let the CM team know of your preference.  I have no control over those individual players who might think you'd be good in them though, so you have to deal with them yourself.

But, we'll honor your request to remain completely out of anything event related.
