You guys are right about learning a lot from watching thoses films but there is also a very important aspect that new players like myself couldn't find before watching thoses films but maybe with the new film viewer it will be better. That is just how much rudder or throttle did he apply or cut or give or flaps. In some films u can't see it from the controls. In the 5vs1, I'm looking at it in recorded views to learn how u guys look around and teach me how to look like that but it seems like he doesn't really look, he just knows they are coming and turns just enough to be missed. I think u can watch thoses films a million times and u would still not know how certain moves are made. Nevertheless we can always pick up stuff from good films like these. :)

Need to be careful about views.  He may be using IRTracker and AH doesn't record the views when using that hardward.

Film viewer doesn't pick up my head position correctly. Some of the shot in the films makes it look like i cant see the con but in my saved views i can see them. Also i dont have my engine sound turned on. I can listen and tell were a con is without looking at my 6. Learning the different engine sounds that each plane helps me with my ACM. If i heir a LA7 on my six and know after our first merge that he is a newb i will keep on my target kill it and then deal with that LA7. If you flip that around a a vet is in a LA7 I will need to focus my attention on him and not the guy in my cross hairs.

That's one of the first trick i teach people is to turn your engine sound off and turn exterior sounds up 100%. It also helps you from being picked (:

It's not only killing the immersion for me (flying a 2000hp without engine roar? C'mon...) but gamey as hell.. just like taking advantage of the ol windmill & shore battery bugs in GV's...

Or like turning your tank tread off.

It helps me in the game and i dont have a rarrrrrrrr in my head phones for a couple hours. Its a simple trick that was passed on to me and help me in more ways then one.

What your talking about are bugs in the game that HT has fixed. This is a setting not a bug that is meant to be adjusted.

This "trick" is similar as if you could make your cockpit transparent to have an unobstructed view.
I hope that HTC will change the settings, so that disabling your own engine sound will disable ALL enemy engine sounds too.

Thats a hack what i am talking about is a setting. Totally different ball park from changing the game to adjusting your sound levels.

A did say "if you could" - that implies it wouldn't be a hack.

Completly switching off your engine sounds in a plane so that you hear a enemy 2k away or in your dead spot is far from being "adjusting" it's a most gamey way to take advantage of some settings. And I very very rarely do use the word "gamey".

A adjustable setting for cockpit views that would give you unobstructed vision if  just tweaked enough would be comparable.

I have to agree with Lusche, your "gaming the game" by turning your engine/tracks sounds off.

On one hand, there are those who like to try to keep things as realistic as they can even tho this is a game. As an example, stick stiring. Realistically you couldn't do it because the G forces would kill you, cripple your plane, or both. Some frown on it.

On the other hand there are others who use what ever trick they can to avoid getting shot down, or get an edge to win.

So where's the line?  Is lowering them a little "ok?"  Because this game would just be uncomfortable for me if I had to have them blasting at 100% all the time (I think I use about 40% - I need to hear my engine a little for immersion/not forgetting about WEP, you know :) ).

What I'm doing is no less "gamey" than what he's doing.  And I hope HTC doesn't change it because, as I stated, it would just be uncomfortable to have it at 100% for a long duration.

There is no fixed line. But it's a difference between A) you are adjusting engine sounds to be comfortable and to avoid hearing damage and B) eleminating engine sound for the reason of getting a surreal advantage in game and to teach that "trick" to new players. And that's what FX does.

And I didn't call for engine sounds not being adjustable - that would suck for the very reasons you pointed out. Just like I said, enemy planes engine sounds should be reduced  too.

This would be a good topic in the main forum.

I don't think their is anything wrong with it. Its just been the way i have played in AW and AH. If you prefer to have your sound up more power to ya. I will be the first to tell you that it does help your acm.

hmmmm..

i have to say, i totaly agree with lusche.

but here is the difference. I like to 'fly' WW2 aircraft. i dont care about winning or getting the most kill possible.
its just the simple difference between a 'gamer' and a 'simmer'. i play this as a 'sim' not a 'game'.
