It would be nice for subscribers to have H2H rooms with 32 or 64 people enabled.  Then the password could be given to people you know enjoy the same aspects of the game as you.

32 people would be just fine for this.  I highly doubt you'd ever get more than that on at any one time, and I also highly doubt you'd have much more fun than in there.

Heck, I'd even pay an extra $5 a month for the privilege :)

Could I get into the 5 years vet arena? I've only been flying AH for 8 days, but I flew AW for over 7 years. (I started before AOL btw, paying for 6 hours of flight time and then $2.95 for every hour after that)

The point is, being a 5 year AH vet doesn't make you a mature person (if you don't believe that, just read the boards), and it doesn't make you a nice person (plenty of jerks that have been paying for years, just like in AW) It certainly doesn't mean you "play" the game right. Sure most people that have been around do, but not all.

More importantly, being young doesn't disqualify you from being mature, knowledgeable or respectful. (I was flying last night and Dexter sounds like is is 14, but he seems to fly the right way, uses the radio properly and shoots down a lot more enemy than me) It just means you squeak on VOX :) (I can live with that, and would think other could too)

I'll tell you what I would like to see.

1. The Vets should be helping those that want to learn
2. Squelching those that don't.
3. And correcting other Vets, when they berate new users, instead of doing either 1 or 2. (Especially on the forums, where new users should be asking questions, even if they are dumb)

This way we help to shape the arenas, encourage new players to continue to shell out their hard earned cash (even if it was hard earned by their mom and dad), and help to maintain a nice level of new people to shoot down.

Lastly, let me echo what has been stated before. In the end is about money. (As it should be, no matter how much HiTech may love doing this, if the money dries up, so does the game.)

Of course "Vets" could just berate me and discount my post, because I've only been around for a week. (No offense to Vets intended, I know most of you strive to help new users.)

Best regards,
Tachus

Another point....remember....we ALL started as newbs, nuggets and rookies. So have some patience. If it becomes unbearable......turn the game Off.

You make some real good points Boomer. I have to admit I didn't consider it would smack of an elite arena, and I could see how that would fly in the face of guys that have been flying less than that amount. My reasons have nothing to do with this. I've been doing this stuff since 92, and most guys with six months under their belt nowadays are closer to Elite than I will ever be. So well said and point taken.

Personally I'd still like a flying refuge from the kids, again......... Nothing against kids, I just don't want to hang out with 12 year olds, who's fathers should be hanging out with them. I don't buy into this touchy feely "The children are our future"stuff. Until they are grown, feeding, and housing themselves, adults are their future. I guess I've watched Grumpy Old Men too many times. :D

'Vets' contribute to the lameness of play just as much as n00bs do.

they've had years to perfect their (pick one or more):  cherry picking, gang-banging, hording, milkrunning, smack-talking, scorewhoring, win-t3h-war Napolean complexes.

Probably more so, if you think about it.  The people I look up to/try to emulate aren't two weekers :)

I believe HT has a good handle on HIS business.

Those that think otherwise should take the big step. So many banter about knowing what is best for other folks companies. HT didn't make his decisions overnight you can bet on it.

If your not totally happy with the direction that Ah is going..... make a decision.... stay or not... then second, if you stay, make the best of what you have. JUST HAVE FUN!

As funny as it is, we're probably twenty years or less away from this.:lol

Squelching the idiots? That would take an age. And why should I have to?

Take last night. The utter drivel that found its way onto channel 200 eventually forced me to switch it off. Which is a shame - I like to chat with opponents after a kill.

I have empathy with sax's viewpoint on this and like the mini arena HTH idea. 7 years ago it seemed a more mature crowd. And I'm not necessarily referring to age.

While in many ways I like the idea.  I have been playing for 3 years.  I have tried to avoid the 'issues' that are most complained about in newer players.  I would be a full 2 years from qualifying for the 'elite' arena.  Given the gameplay that this idea would promote in the 'lesser' arena, I expect that people like myself would find the experience unbearable and would not stick around for two more years.  I think you might be, as mentioned before, strangling the supply of new competent players.   blah blah blah and whatever....

Squeekers may be a pain, may take a while to instruct, may not play the way we like, but they are the future and will keep this game on the net in the next 10 years.  And, I kinda want to play for the next 10 years.....

Slower, you may need to read your own post.

I don't have a problem with newbies. As far as them getting better I don't judge peoples worth on their skill in an internet airplane game. Most of you even a majority of the newbies can fly rings around me.

My issue is behavior, and yes they do learn from vets. If your post is anything like the example you set for the younger kids, then another generation is is going to suffer from that same 1950's politician.

Hey, you just called him a segregationist!  And Hitler would have been in favor of segregation, so I'd have to say that this topic has, in fact, already met the conditions of Godwin's Law.

Well played, sir.  Well played.
