I think that if the unpaid tickets hits a certain amount the next time they get you, they just take the car and sell it.

Same as if they find any type of illegal drug in the car.  It's gone.

If you still had a car loan, the bank is forced to hand over the title to the state.  The bank call the balance of the load due within 30 days.

The also doing that for unpaid child support.

I thought violations were expunged at 18 but i guess it's 21.  Anyway, i'm 17 and my birthday is August 3rd.  Court is the 29 so I hope they lower the points or else I'm dead in the water.

Hornet: Just got off the phone with him.

Mac, Kong: Sound advice, may have to put tape across it when I have to get another job to pay the insurance though, employers tend to look down on tattoos, especially ones that say SSABMUD.

Lazs:  Heres the sad part, we were on the way home from the drag strip, numbers still on the car and everything which I'm sure made the officer feel just peachy.  However, my car only goes 30MPH at 6,000RPM (red lines at 6500).

I wouldn't even call it a race.  It was 10:30 and pitch black except for my headlights, hence I couldn't see anything except what was in front).  Friends stopped next to me and I gave it some gas, second gear I gave it a little more.  Anyway, the lesson has most definitely been learned and I guess that's what is supposed to happen.

i've managed to avoid tickets with incredible success. i've only ever even seen a cop while doing something stupid once, and i had more than enough time to slow down.

accidents i've just been damn lucky though. oddly enough, i havent come close to one above 2nd gear yet.

better sirens than a trip to the bodyshop, or worse, though

They'll be on your record for at least a year, and for 2 years for Insurance purposes.   Since you "already got a break", you will probably be dead in the water.

It's all unrealistic crap requested by people who want pie in the sky actions performed without an understanding of how things work and who can't grasp reality.

wurzel.. if you don't like the direction your country is going then you are more than welcome to come here so far as I am concerned... I know a few exbrits who think like that and they make better Americans than most Americans.

RPM...  other than the gun thing... you like the socialism tho right?

nirvana... I do feel your pain... the country has really gotten nannyish.   It is like we don't want boys to be boys... if a boy child acts like a boy child in socialist public schools... they drug him.

radar detectors are great when they are running radar. Nothing like blowing down the road at 90 and getting an instant full bar of red. :O

Nirvana, check into diversion.

The local prosecutor will let you plead to a lesser non-moving (ie: no points)  charge that will not go to your insurance company.

In return, you will pay a much larger fine, typically 2X or 3X normal and get some dippy punishment like going to a driver's safety class.

Your lawyer will know if this is possible in your area.

It usually is, after all this is all about money for the local taxing authority, not safe streets.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

:rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl

You are so full of it here. :lol

You don't normally get to see the drivers face until just about the time of or right after the vehicle stops. Kinda hard to "target young people" because of that.

Of course it couldn't possibly be that folks who have sports cars tend to drive them fast and aggressively..... Nah, that couldn't possibly be the case. I'm sure folks who have sports cars, muscle cars and built up ricers all drive like the proverbial old lady on her way to church every Sunday morning.

I used to love folks with radar detectors. They would get so mad some of them would throw the detector across the car. It went off just in time to tell them they had been nailed.

Well in the spirit of this thread I managed to help a young lad around last Christmas get a few tickets for "excesive" driving. I kinda felt bad about it but I couldn't help myself. Here's the deal.

I was coming home from the local mall after doing some Christmas shopping in my truck. I drive a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500. I have a 5.9L V8 in it, a 2" lift, 31's mounted on a nice set of Mickey Thompson wheels, painted fire engine red with custom graphics down the side, and 3" dual exhuast with glass packs dumped out the back. My truck is loud and looks agressive. That's why I bought it.

Anyway I pull up to a stoplight in the right hand lane. As I'm looking around the intersection I see a cop off to my right just sitting in this parking lot just on the other side of the intersection behind this sign. I can see him and he can see me. OK no big deal. This young Navy kid pulls up beside me in his little rice burnner car with the trash can muffler sticking out the back, extra gages mounted on the top of the dash, big wing on the back, the whole street race package.

Well he looks at me and my truck and starts reving his little 4 banger engine and stuff. I'm thinking to myself this kid isn't that stupid with a cop sitting right over there but I figure what the hell why not have a little fun. I hold my breaks and romp the gas once and jump my truck a little bit. This kid gets a big grin on his face and nods at me. OKAY!!!!!!!

I look back over at the cop and he's looking at me with this "Your not about to do what I think your about to do" look on his face. The light turns green, the kids hits the gas and burns his tires all the way through the intersection. I never move and give the cop a freindly wave as he pulls out in front of me to go after the kid.

I saw them both on the side of the road a couple of blocks up. They both see me coming. The kid is giving me the finger, the cop is laughing, and I went home.

Merry Christmas dummy. Youth was fun, but in that instance I was so glad I was older and wiser.
