What a doozy, 5 points for engaging in an exhibition of speed and 4 for careless driving.  Court date set for the day i was supposed to do MEPS too which is nice.  Oh yeah, I also got my other 2 friends caught.  I was unaware that accelerating hard constitutes an exhibition of speed but that's why I'm not an officer of the law.

Wow....judges dont look kindly on racers.  Even if you were racing or not.  Get a lawyer, your parents may be footing the bill now but you'll be sorry later when you're paying the insurance at 22 and can't get a quote lower than 400 a month.  9pts seems a bit extreme though.

Interesting ... you state that you were unaware that accelerating hard is considered exhibition of speed?
What did you think you were doing? ... just burning up extra gas for no particular reason? ... behind the wheel and sent brain on holiday? ... just wondering.

He gave us a break, street racing is 12 points.

I normally accelerate hard, it's just how I drive.  May have been something to do with driving backroads at 10:30 and having 2 other people pull up next to me at the stop sign.  What's done is done though, just needed to sorta vent.

When someone does that, just let them go. Its not worth it.

Accelerating hard all the time puts too much wear on an engine IMO.

I feel for ya... you will learn to look around tho.

I cut my teeth on street racing... even ran a few times.   I had hundreds of street races and even more at the dragstrip...

Even today I will smoke the tires and powershift at 6800 in a small block chevy powered healey... I let off at anything past about 120 or so..  I use a gtech to check acceleration.

They don't like it?  catch me or... better yet... build some frigging dragstrips

The area here is flat and the country roads straight for miles.

The difference is that when you get older you do it for yourself and not your "friends".

Both of my hot rods are capable of safely filling the street with tire smoke.

It does seem odd tho that the law is against accelerating hard when it is the safest way to pass another car..  I was stopped for that once but since I got right back in the lane and let off as soon as I did and... the HP had no idea of how fast I was going..  there was no ticket.

I know in Michigan you'd be risking losing your License if all 9 points were awarded to you.    You may very well be in the same predicament.

You should have gotten the 12.   My Aunt needed 3 rounds of plastic surgery to correct damage done to her face by two drag racers.

Do I understand your insurance company will now about this ??

Why ? you didn't damage your car nor created an accident.

Wow, and they let you drive home?  Be glad you weren't in PA!  Six points will result in loss of privileges(or at least a safety re-test), and anything that remotely APPEARS to be street racing will get your license (physically) taken from  you.  You will also be calling for a ride home that night.  In, addition, your car will be impounded.  The reason being is that since you won't be allowed to drive, the police have it towed to their lot so they are not "responsible" for anything that happens (vandalism, etc) to your vehicle, since you had to abandon it due to loss of privileges. (Just a money making giimmick)

This may sound extreme, but remember, PA is technically not a state.  It is a commonwealth which basically means they can do what they feel like , for the most part.

As for the insurance company, points are points.  Accident, damage, or not, points are only given out for "un-safe" drivng.

Improve your SA. It helps even in the real world.  LOL

Have fun @ MEPS.  When you drop a urine sample, drop your pants to your ankles like a little kid, they love it!!

Make sure you let your recruiter know what is going on. It will affect you if you don't.
