Airline sacrifices goats to fix maintenance problems
« Reply #15 on: September 05, 2007, 11:32:00 AM »
It's their country, their religion and they are NOT doing anything to harm other people. In other words it's none of my business nor anyone else's really. Hardly any reason to criticise them or belittle their beliefs. Animal sacrifice was a rather large part of both Judaism and Christianity and is documented in both of the books each considers sacred.

Seems quite a few folks really don't have enough to occupy themselves that they have to go being bothered about other people who are harming no one.

Yes it WAS a part of our faith to do these things....what has changed?

...and Mav, you ignored my question about human sacrifice.  Can I assume you are good to go with that...as long as it takes place in another country of course.

Have you ever commented on certain practices within the Musilm faith?  Are you okay with honour killings too?

I'm betting all of this angst is about the goat (with everyone now falling into the Storch "It is just chattle" argument...which is interesting...must go have a looksie back at the Michael Vick thread) whereas to me it is about appeasing a God by sacrifice that I have a problem with.

Curv,

IIRC the story posted was about sacrificing a goat. I don't recall seeing anything in the original story about sacrificing a human being. If you can find it please quote it for me. I don't care for playing the "what if" game and don't need anyone to try and put words in my mouth. If you can see where I posted anything about human sacrifice in this thread before this post, please quote it for me.

I don't recall any requirement in the O'Club or AH bbs that I or anyone else respond to every single question by every single poster on the board here. I believe I am allowed to ignore those items I don't feel are worthy of a reply am I not.

You may assume whatever you wish, however your assumption is your problem and may have no bearing on reality what so ever and also is not my responsibility.

You might also note that I did not address my previous post to any individual in particular. As you can see from this on I am perfectly capable of an individual response when that is what I intended. If you took my previous post personally you inferred something I did not state specifically, again not my problem. You might have asked me about it however rather than to assume something I did not state.

We've just finished updating the maintenance technical manuals for the 757 under a new chapter that says "When all else fails, do this!"

Yes.  It was written two thousand years ago at the earliest.

Unless of course you decide to fly to Nepal on Nepal Airlines.  How'd you feel about it then?

Well...........God gets hungry, wills the people to sacrifice the goat, God is no longer hungry.  I'd say thats a pretty smart God.  Think of it like fast food or take out, for God.  All the food with none of the hassle.:D

We could argue over the color of a polar bears poo for weeks. In the end we have 4 recipes for chili, discovered a renewable energy source, complained about whats in our tap water, and someone gets banned. A day in the life of the o'club.

What if the God didn't want goat though, Bone?  Wouldn't that put the passengers on those planes in significantly more danger?  I think the airline rushed to their decision before thinking about all the variables.

Expecting something similar here.

In Trenton NJ there are groups that are offering prayer to stop the crime rate there.

Inasmuch as nothing else has seemed to work. Might as well.

Could the sacrifical goats be far behind?
