There might be someone here with a knowledge of law that can predetermine what the outcome might be. Only my guess but it might fall into the hate crime category because a noose or nooses were hung on that tree. Here in Chicago it's against the law to burn a cross on someones lawn or deface jewish property with swastikas. Then again it is against the law to vandalize anyones property in any way but somehow falls in a lesser misdemeanor category even if a white guy does it to another white, brown or black guy.

Without a doubt, aggravated battery was committed by 6 individuals and supposably Louisianan does not have a law against what the other kids did.

So are they fighting to have the laws changed in that state, the white kids put in jail or the release of the others.

Check this out, here's a news' linky to it. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070920/ap_on_re_us/school_fight

The thing here is, It looks kinda like the stuff that lead up to the Rodney King riots. I bet that the judge and jury pass the verdict and senteces afraid of what will happen outside the courtroom as soon as it happens.

:rofl   Lazs says some hilarious stuff sometimes.

I think the whole situation reeks of racism, but not in the way you think.  To see the black community support 6 kids who nearly beat a helpless kid to death is ridiculous.  Then I realize that the 6 kids were black, while the nearly dead kid was white.  Then it becomes OK.

I thought it was about Jena Jameson, or Jena Haze.:furious
Who cares about those black thugs, they'll probably end up in jail anyway sooner or later.
I'm also quite sure the KKK is following the outcome of the procecussion with great interest.

"We didn't bring race in it," Al Sharpton said. "Those that hung the nooses brought the race into it."

I'm pretty sure white and black people were both hung from nooses. So just because white kids did it in the deep south means it's racist?

Well I wasn't sure how this post would spin for sure but the original question was   What are they protesting exactly?

On one side their guilty by law and on the other there is no law to prosecute by. How does this become a civil rights movement. Seems silly but i guess it's all about the noose.... oops, can I still say that word .:noid

Anyway, watched the news and it doesn't look good for the people of that town.  The supporters are bringing their own food and water so as not to add to the economy of the town and the store owners are closing up and leaving. Many of the towns people are doing the same which might not be a good idea since their leaving their toilets behind too. Chances are there will be too many people and not enough of anything there.

I'm sure the police presence has  been increased and there might even be governmental relief OTW as well. It could cost us a lot of money and probably make good news but whats it all for? I'm sure some are there for what they believe in but others will definitely be getting out of control if it lasts more than a day there. Chances are the defendants will be moved to a different location and court will be held there.

It's going to be interesting to watch and hopefully someone has a plan to de bunk it. I wonder what will happen at the next OJ trial in a year or so? Ain't no way he is going to get off of that one scott free. With 6 felony charges one has got to stick. America should or i really mean WON't stand for another OJ circus shocker and this incidents not helping. Hummm, so why all of a sudden. Are they linked somehow?  I don't get it.

Sharpton, who helped organized the rally, said this could be the beginning of the 21st century's civil rights movement, one that would challenge disparities in the justice system..................

You're right Al, so let's drop the "hate crime" clause, and sentance everyone fairly.

I don't know the context of the nooses that were hung.  To my knowledge, far more white men were hung than black.  That means, a noose should offend white men quicker.....or....

Was it in the context of racism?  If so, those kids should have been punished.

If the argument is that the white kids got off, so the black kids should get off, that's bs.    One mistake doesn't mean you stop pursuing the law.

1.  No one was physically injured in the notorious noose incident.
2.   Prosecute the black thugs to the fullest extent.
3.  Revisit the offense with the nooses.  If it was racial, punish the white kids.

These protests, in my opinion, set back the black race in this country.  They don't advance their cause.

Al Sharpton is a Martin Luther King Jr. wannabee.

What a tool.

this thread
http://forums.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=214306&highlight=hate+crime

covers a few "details" of the case, but every time I see it on the news the story changes and gets more distorted.

of course the po' black kids did nothing wrong gang beating a guy and they should just be let go. they didn't know what they were doing, and whitey is just keeping them down.
