Whats your favorite ride and why?

I wanted to revive this thread in a new light, I wanted to know WHY you fly the a/c you do.

Mine is the p51D, ilove its history and the fact that its an energy fighter, i was turned onto the mustang when i saw one at the israeli air force muesuem. Since then i have strived to learn all of its facets including reading about it and getting as knowledgable as possible.

Now its YOUR! turn,:aok

P38G Lightning.

I was not much of a 38 fan while growing up and diving into the WW2 history stuff.  I was much more of a Spit and Mustang fanatic, Spit XII to be precise.

When I found Airwarrior I started in Spits but got to know some guys who flew 38s.  That resulted in my becoming a 38 driver and the Nomads being formed back then.  During that time my fictional pilot always had an early model P38 starting with a 38E and finally ending up with a 38H about the time Airwarrior died.

I had made a vow to myself that if AW ever got a small intake early 38 that's all i'd fly.  Well it didn't happen but did happen in AH so I jumped in.

Considering the 38 Aces in the Pacific did most of their work in F,G and Hs and that the MTO guys were flying G's and H's as well into the middle of 44, it to me has more history to it then the later model 38s

Throw in that I have an aversion to the late war 'uber' birds and the 38G fills all my cartoon flying needs.  ENY never affects it and it can keep up with most any bird in the game if I fly it right :)

Of course Corky Jr was the name of Corky Smith's 38G of the 80th FS Headhunters too.

I fly everything to some degree....but the A-20 is suprisingly fun to fly. It'll put up a good fight vs most planes in the game.

I have two, first choice will always be the P-51 series.  Wheather it be a B/D model I still love it.  It was love at first sight, and the first time I heard one in RL, it deepened my love for it. I love the speed and the high speed cornering of her.

Next is the P-61 Black Widow, I am still learning about this aircraft, but again I seen one in person and was just drawn to it.  Very unique lines and the technology was so advance for its day (or should I say night)

I used to fly many planes, oddly not much of the 38.  I always found it interesting thoug. Being mostly a t'n'b type of guy, spent many days in spits, a6ms, and one of my fav, the ki.  Oddly through fighting the older 475th and having some great fights with those guys, and my encounters with delirium, I ended up in the squad and learning the 38.  I remeber a message from killnu that said something like "to bad you don't fly a 38."  Got me thinking, why can't I?  And long story short, now I rarely fly anything else.  Once in awhile I'll jump in another, but it just doesn't seem right anymore.  It's a great plane to fly and it is NEVER boring.  Cons see you, and they want to make you lunch, fantastic.  For me, flying another plane is fine and a nice change of pace once in awhile, but the 38 provides me with versatility and challenge, and reminds me of the great people I've flown with, and the ones I'm flying with now.

Don't know if you've been to this site 5PointOh, but its the site for the restoration of a P61 that will probably be the only surviving Widow to get back in the sky.

it's a great story of it's recovery and the ongoing restoration

Probably the B-26. Its tough, has a good bombload, is versatile, easy to defend, fast, manueverable. Its the "perfect" medium bomber.

I like flying any U.S. Ride that comes off a carrier because for some reason I just like the whole Carrier battle scenario. I Love the Hellcat, I love the corsair (because I watched a lot of "Blacksheep" episodes. I guess I like the blue planes...Seafire is fun, but I like 50's. I like flying Zero's, but I feel like I'm disrespecting my forefathers...I basically am a complete dweeb that pretty much sucks at this game, but I have a lot of fun at times.

Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

I fly lots of different planes, different tools for different jobs.

Quick buff interception 109k4.

Low furball close to base or carrier will find me in a A6m or Seafire.

When squadies are on I love doing a good P51 fighter sweep, clearing and covering each other.

Base attack will see me in a wide variety of planes depending on the situation and what I feel like flying.
